Sprint tomorrow.
Sunday 10/1 calendar says Moto only from 8 am to 2 pm.
Some of you who can't make it on Mondays, should be able to attend?

We need to show up every once in a while to make a statement that we are here to stay. It's all motard at Sonoma.

I wish they did more weekend days for moto... they used to probably once a month, it's hard for me to take time off to get up there. I'm on a motard though.

I'm going to try and make the 1st Probably be there around 11. Hopefully Rob will be done with his bike by then.

Made some serious progress today so it's looking good. :)

Minoru, can you go on Sundays now? Jennie was telling me that the Dixon track is really nice.

Also, we might do some 236 Replica riding on Sunday. :p

Btw, I'm going on Monday.
I found out the best time to ride at Sonoma is to get there early and start riding between 9 to 12 noon before everyone and a bunch of karts show up.
See you!

Looks like we can't make this Monday (I just called Mike)--maybe next Monday.

Here's the info on dixon

Moto Practice Day: Sunday, August 27th
Fee: $40
(No karts allowed on the track)

That's the plan. I still have a lot of work to do on the bike!

The day before, Saturday the 26th will be a track day at Stockton, and a race at night. The current plan is for camping out at Stockton before heading over to Dixon the following day. We'll see how things progress over the week.

I don't know. But if you mean big ugly four strokes gosh I hope not! :p

They have a contact page if you'd like to ask them and find out.

Looking at the Sonoma calendar they don't seem to support motos on the weekends anymore, or much at all--only three moto/kart days in the 31 days of September. Monday the 11th, 18th, and 25th. All other days the track is open are karts only.

Here are some more Dixon images. ;)

Manimal posted this up info from Dixon earlier on another foro:
This is new to the club. So you really won't find much. Yes we allow the larger moto's. We want sliders, handle bar covers, foot pegs that fold up. Then you need the safety gear for a rider. There is no dirt to ride on. This is just the asphalt track.

Due to these requirements I probably wont have my bike ready in time. To get rear sliders I'm probably going to have to take the bike apart again so that I can weld on some rear slider mounts.

If you have rear sets on the bike with non-folding pegs they are allowable with sliders on the ends of them. Ed asked them about that since most MiniGP bikes have pegs that don't fold up.

Ed also suggest getting the bar end lever protectors. Woodcraft makes some nice ones.

PitBull makes some weld on bungs for stand spools, and you can get spools that double as sliders. SVRacing makes spool sliders in M6, M8, and M10 sizes. You can also do this the budget way as illustrated in the attached photo. Also there bolt on solutions like this one from T-rex.

In your opinion is it fair for me to show up with a ninja 300 C rider at best? Or not really the time or place?

In my opinion big bikes just aren't as much fun on the kart tracks--for a number of reasons. But also they are not really safe either. And by that I mean they have so much more power than the mini motos that it can cause problems.

But the real reason you don't want to go out there on the big bikes is because it's just not nearly as much fun. When you are on a mini moto that's fairly well matched to your friend's bikes it's way more fun. The greater the disparity within the bikes the less fun you'll have out there.

While you can easily spend over $10K on a mini moto you don't have to go that route. There are plenty of inexpensive bikes to be had. Everything from a small two stroke dirt bike with mini moto wheels to used miniGP. And there are the small Replica bikes that can be outfitted for the track. There are a number of those hiding out that can be found and brought back to the track very inexpensively. There are even some cats that have outfitted their mopeds for the track (I don't mean scooters, but you can outfit those too!).

Depending on the size of your rear axle, you might be able to drill/tap it to mount sliders rather than welding on a bung.

I've talked with folks that have done this, and they all tell me that if you do it that way when you crash the bolts break. It's probably good enough to get through inspection, but I kind of want to do something that will work too. ;)

I'm okay with welding on a mount. I'm still pretty decent at welding. Sadly my really nice Miller was stolen--so at the moment I'm not a welder. :( That could change, but in this case I'll probably find someone to help with the welding.

Another nice thing about doing it this way is then you have spools too. If you put them in the axel then you can't use your stand to do things like adjust the chain, or pull the rear wheel. I've seen some mounts that use the rear axel to hold them in place. They have the same issues.

I started a thread in the supermoto forum too once I found that they're allowed.

I have some factory made sliders that go through the axle. Haven't tested them that much though.
