Hi y'all - putting my R1S for sale. It's an incredible bike and has been tastefully upgraded. This is the most comfortable 'supersport' I've ever ridden, I just don't do much street riding these days and have a dedicated track bike. This is a dream bike for me, so I'm not in a huge rush to let her go.
Bike's History: I purchased this bike from an insurance company in April as I have done with a few now. I pick bikes that I really like / want to ride and that have minimal damage. I then go through the entire bike, replacing and upgrading parts along the way - with the intention of enjoying it for a while and then passing on a good deal. I have taken this bike to a few track days (both SoCal and NorCal R World track days, which as an awesome perk of owning a Yamaha) as well as street riding - and it has totally blown me away.
Currently has ~15k miles, parts replaced / maintenance performed:
- New forks, serviced with fresh oil
- New rotors / pads / fluid flush
- New radiator with Cox radiator guard, Samco hoses, coolant flush (distilled water + water wetter)
- Upgraded steering head bearings (All Balls needle bearings)
- Axle, Triple Clamps, Wheel digitally measured and confirmed straight
- 520 chain and sprocket conversion, -1 +1 sprockets
- Fresh Oil change + Filter
- New spark plugs, air filter, Exhaust air injection block off plates
- Air intake tube / fairing stay repaired, intake flapper valve deleted
- New OEM fairings and a bunch of OEM spares
Upgrades:
The bike has an Akrapovic exhaust with link pipe (sounds incredible), a power commander and FTECU tuning cable. It also has the FTECU auto-blipper / quick shifter system, so it will shift up and down without the clutch. I added a carbon fiber tank extension which is very popular for these bikes as it gives you more surface to hold onto with your legs and keeps you from sliding too far forward (and looks awesome). The bike also has matching carbon fiber side panels, and I removed the "R1" decals / stripes to give it a cleaner look.
More info about the R1: The bike has ABS and a "unified brake system" that basically brakes the rear brake with the front brake for you. You can still use rear brake, but you can feel the system helping you apply the rear brake as you press the lever with your foot - which helped me understand how much more rear brake I could apply. The traction control system is amazing - the power output, traction control, slide control, launch control, quick shifter responsiveness, and wheelie control are all individually adjustable - and there are 4 'riding modes' with default settings that are also all adjustable. The awesome TFT display has 'street' and 'track' modes with an insane amount of features.
Price: $9k with all the extras, $8k without extras (remove Akra exhaust and link pipe, carbon fiber tank extension, and Power Commander; I'll leave the FTECU / auto-blipper installed). I'm already slightly underwater with this pricing just on parts, not paying myself for labor.
It currently has fresh Pirelli slicks on it, but I have a set of Dunlop Q3+ tires that I can put on as well. Please PM me if interested, will consider trades.
