Consider the maintenance work or fixes that YOU need to do to the bike, and factor that into the price. It is ok to pay more for a bike that has had all of the maintenance work done to it recently, or pay less and get a bike that needs some work, but you must know this in advance and be ok with it.
    • Inspecting the bike: if you are not experienced yourself, have a mechanic or an experienced friend check the bike before making a purchase. Crashed bikes:This is even more important if you are buying a bike that is being sold at a cheaper price with damages that the buyer is required to fix. In these cases, doing a frame check that will show any frame/fork/geometry damages is HIGHLY recommended. Do NOT simply rely on the information that the seller is providing, even he/she may not be aware of all the problems. Have the crashed bike checked and know what you are getting into.
    • Clean title, Salvage title A clean title doesn't mean the bike is free of serious issues. A Salvaged title doesn't mean the bike may have any problems. Every case is different. Some bikes are seriously damaged in a crash, but an insurance claim is never made on them, so they still have a clean title. Some bikes have had mostly cosmetic damages in a crash, but the insurance company decided to pay off the bike and salvage the title rather than spending the money to fix it. Know what you are getting into and don't make any assumptions based on what the seller is telling you.
    • Registration: Know about the current registration status of the bike. Check with DMV if you have any questions about any possible back fees and other title/registration questions (out of state title, no title with bill of sales only, etc.) before purchasing the bike.

    • If you disagree with a price, keep it to yourself. The seller has set the price. If you don't like it, don't buy it and move on. If you really feel strongly about it, then PM the seller.

Hey BARF - Winter is here and I am looking to get something a little newer for next season and figure I could pass this bike onto someone on here that can appreciate it instead of Craigslist.

A quick run-down of the specs, It's a 1999 Kawisaki Ninja ZX-7R
Clean Title, Registered until mid-2016, Never Downed officially. (I did leave my glove between the clip-ons and couldnt' complete a turn into my driveway and dropped it)

It isn't perfect, it's cheap and it runs well.
750 CC
63,XXX Miles
Fork seals are clean, never leaked on me and I've owned it a year.
Chain is tight & lubed - It's about the middle of the adjustment bolt.
It's got Pilot Sport 3's on it. Front - 60% & Rear 40% - I have a newer front to go with it.

Integrated tail with blinkers, flush mount front blinkers, hid's in front lights.
Choke works as it should, all gears work as they should, ride might be a little stiff for my weight (155lbs)
Has race tail with go-pro mount.

Within the last month. I tore it down and did the plugs, oil change, lubed throttle cable, disassembled carbs and cleaned jets, bowls & floats. Other than that I've got no clue on any other history such as the valves being adjusted or anything else.

I'm asking $1500, I believe that is incredibly fair for a clean title, never wrecked & never downed bike that will get you as far as you want to go with no problems. 2% to BARF if I can get my asking price, If I take any less I'll be losing money and won't be able to break even.

I have such a soft spot for this whale of a bike, cause I had a whale of a good time with it and technically popped my track cherry on one.

I'm almost compelled to make it the fifth bike in my current ownership...

There was a Muzzy exhaust on it at one point, it was actually stolen off of it while parked in front of my house.

A beat to shit streetfightered 2001 version of this was my first bike. Terrible idea then, and I am now glad I don't have $1500 or space in the garage

I'll even deliver it! It's got a brand new battery as well. I didn't want anyone to have any issues with it so I made sure to clear up any before I sold it.

Comes with original tail as-well.

I love the dual lights and intakes...I always used to think, "If Darth Vader were a BARFer and rode a moto, this WOULD be his chariot!"

That one has a black frame so it looks better with the busier livery. I love how clean this one looks with the race tail and lack of branding.

Deciding if I want to cut up the fairings for frame sliders :eek:
