Sod's Law Strikes Again... 1st puncture

Another 1st ticked off on my short but thoroughly fulfilling motorcycle journey to date... riding home yesterday afternoon having decided not to bring my usual tire repair kit (hey... I haven't had a puncture so far, what are the odds?!) I got my first puncture. Having never had that experience before it was interesting that I immediately knew what had happened. Got pretty lucky with where I stopped with only a short push to a nearby Starbucks (slight uphill was a bit of a workout) while I waited for my wife to arrive with my repair kit. MC's, bicycles and cars all offered help (not with the pushing!) which was appreciated.

Pic attached (I think)... Doesn't 'Cerby' (full name Cerberus... 3 headed dog... 3 cylinder engine... I'm sure it's not just me...) look sad and incomplete somehow?! There's something about the poise of an MC that with a flat is just ruined.

Anyway, glad to report that my roadside patch kit worked just fine and I was able to get home so, all in all, no real drama!

@mototireguy - new tire has been ordered. I'll be in touch!

I've used the engine before to help with the "pushing". If you're walking beside the bike, it won't cause any additional damage.

Thanks for the reminder that I should stick my tire repair stuff in my bike's tail pack instead of leaving it sitting on a shelf.

Did think of that but luckily I only had a fairly short push so didn't bother. That was the lesson I've taken as well... always take my repair stuff!

Yeah. My 1st flat I had my plug kit, and I remembered transferring my bicycle pump from old bike to new, but at the side of the road, it wasn't there. I was in Jenner which is remote enough that I didn't have a cell signal, but there was a gas station nearby.

Since then I have a bit more experience repairing flats, and a keep a compressor under each motorcycle seat, but if I see a gas station, I'm stopping there to do the repair.

Get a little tire pump you hook up to the bike battery
Bicycle pump you be there all day lol

With the right one (mini pump with a short hose that screws on the tire valve), it only feels like you're there all day.

With the more common kind that clamp on directly to the tire valve, forget about it.

I agree about having a small compressor though.
