I will start planning my 2022 vacation at some point.

That will make it officially 20 years since I took 2 weeks off in a row.

European moto ride and GP visit.... assuming the world is a safe place.

I wonder what the protocol is for visiting Americans to other countries now...

Originally, prior to covid, I was thinking about taking the fam to NYC and maybe DC, as my girls are now old enough to appreciate it. They've never experience anything like it. My grandparents took my on a trip like that when I was about 11 and it was very memorable. I looked at hotels in Manhattan a bit on line and was getting discouraged with how expensive everything was. Then came covid and all those ideas were scrapped. :laughing

I'm two weeks into a 3 week vacation from work. We went on a 2 day whitewater rafting trip. It was a blast. First time the wife or kids had done that, and it had been about 20 years for me. It was relatively covid safe, as it was outdoors, and only the family with the guide in the raft. We stayed at this 120+ year old B&B the night before and the night after. In between the rafting days included one night of camping...but the rafting company provided the food, so it was easy. It turned out to be a very nice low covid risk getaway, other than getting bit the fuck by little bugs at the campsite.

Our rafting guide goes to college in Washington State. He said he had went to the CHAZ for a few days. He was only there in the day time, but said it wasn't all that the media was making of it. He said there was mostly just a lot of graffiti. There were various speakers throughout the day, and anyone could take the mic if they had something to say. Lots of people there giving away food and such. He said it was pretty chill.

I will start planning my 2022 vacation at some point.

Damn Bud! That's horrible. Every year I take off a good 3 to 4 weeks at a time, generally in the summer. This year it was 3, as I already took a week off in February and got some skiing in at Tahoe about 2-3 weeks before SIP. In hindsight, that was a little risky, but I'm glad I got that trip in as well.

Was in Hawaii in early March just when things started getting interesting. When wife and I got back it was the day before Hawaii implemented 15 day quarantine for all incoming. Hawaiian Airlines round trip air fare dropped considerably. So yeah we booked another trip for July ( I never go back in July because it is peak time ).

Well that trip was cancelled and credited. I even told my wife quarantine in Hawaii isn't so bad. I see myself just chilaxin' at my Mom's house finally getting some book reading time in. Wife wasn't having any of that.

renting an RV (our own toilet ftw), going up to the mountains and staying away from people.

Good luck with that .
Just came back from about 8000 foot level on a dead end dirt road.
People Everywhere!! All camp spots reserved. Over crowding everywhere..

My November Mediterranean cruise was cancelled months ago.
There are a couple of hobby events I would like to attend in the EU at the end of October into November, but as of now, no US citizens are allowed into the EU.
So far the events themselves are not cancelled, but I’m not optimistic.:(

Luckily I have a home in the mountains. Shooting, fishing, riding, hiking, wildlife photography, etc. life’s a bitch.:laughing

I want to do this with the fam. Thinking in September when kids have to be back at school (in class or online) either way they will have to be staying home. Last year before we are stuck on that schedule.

ahhh, that sucks! reminds me of a time the lady and I backpacked to "lost lakes". there were people everywhere!

anyways, yeah where we're going only has a few camp spots. The fam is very aware of personal space and masks etc...I'll let you know if we're able to leave the RV, lol. it was important that we get our personal bathroom. The conditions for leaving home was: RV or a chair potty we bought for tent camping. Our first time with an RV.

Dispersed camping on BLM land is just about all that is open that is not a private RV campground.
Site above looks better at night, no one to be seen.

:thumbup first time..:thumbup memories in the making. Have fun..
Remember when you get gas..how tall the RV is...

haha yeah the gas bill will suck and hopefully I wont crash it. I used to be a rental agent at Monarch Truck Rental back in the day so a ~25' RV should be manageable...but we'll see!

Your passport is basically worthless until further notice. No one will let us cross borders at this point unless its an emergency.

OMG!!! :laughing, I forgot that it's ME that they are concerned about!! :laughing

Just to be clear, my Wife and I are thinking about doing this closer to December.

Can't think of a worse time of year if you want to see anything in the area.
Dim glow through the clouds for a few hours a day and pitch black by 4pm.
Rarely can see the tree across the street at noon through the fog and rain.
Gray, wet, cold and wet.

The seafood is still fresh though.
