So, I bought a handgun.

So, I had started a thread earlier about this. Can't find it.

Went to City Arms in PH so time ago. Since then, I've looked at many guns at many different stores. I came back to the Russians and bought the Kimber Ultra Carry. Just liked them at City Arms better.

The whole transaction was easy, and I can recommend this place. Fair price and good advice and knowledge there.

As a bonus, when I picked up the gun, it was Roman who helped me. This was great as I really wanted to go out to him for the purchase, but he was at the Pacifica store then. At any rate, meeting Roman was cool. Great guy. Always funny to meet someone you know online but really don't know.

I decided to get the Kimber because I always liked 1911's. Although I was seriously considering a Glock, based on Romans and Plangreys suggestions. But, I really wanted the Kimber since I first pawed it months ago. I sold some shit I didn't need and had some extra coin, so I did it. So, here she is:

sweet! I carry one of those. Love the feel of it. only downside is that it is a little heavy for a daily carry.

Very nice choice and worth the extra coin imho. I like my Sig but would like it better if it was a Kimber. :laughing

Nice. I was just eyeballing a shorty 1911 yesterday.
Never been a fan, but they are starting to grow on me.

Love the Kimber quality.

I have the Ultra CDP II and it is by far my favorite pistol. Looks just like yours only fancier!:twofinger

Do yourself a favor and buy some Wilson or Ed Brown mags. Even the guy who owns Kimber has been known to say his mags are less than reliable.
The only feed problems I have ever had with this pistol is with the Kimber mags.

Congrats man.

Now go out and buy a mess of magazines, a vertical draw holster, and get into action shooting.

Seriously. Take it to that level.

I wouldn't mind one of each. Can't really beat a Sig!

nice piece.

Thanks.:cool

I probably won't carry it too much. So, probably won't need the lightness of someone carrying all day.
Have you had any problems with yours?

FYI, those handles can get a bit scratchy against your skin (if you carry inside your waistband). These are great holsters for carrying one of those

Crossbreed Super Tuck Holsters

Very comfortable too.

I have recently seen those on a Kimber forum. Haven't heard anything negative about them as they seam quite popular.
I just have a little nylon crap holster right now so I am looking forward to finding something better.

I wanted that one but I couldn't afford it. There is actually a Kimber mag in it in the photo. I was frankly amazed how shitty the stock mag feels in comparison.

Moving to North Carolina on friday with my girlfriend and two cats.

I plan on seriously getting my redneck on. Had to sell my bike to move so I plan on taking out some energy on shooting!

I've always had a bit of talent (maybe early instruction is a better way to describe it) for shooting as my dad was a cop, swat/bomb squad/pistol team guy. He also built a lot of 1911's.

So, I have done enough shooting to know I suck. :laughing

If you were local I'd be happy to let you try it.

Damn I'm so jealous. Next on my wish list are an Ultra Carry II or a Para LTC.

I have to admit, I have made some stupid gun purchases, and for once I don't regret buying something. :laughing

Been looking at grips. I really do like the stock rubbers ones. Feel good so far.

But God, I am dying to put some ivory grips on it. But, I'd have to live with elephant-guilt and and serious pocket-book depletion.

Might go with classic rosewood. And, I'll deal with the rain-forest-guilt!

Only as mentioned earlier, invest in some better clips. Mine has hung a few times. Was told to put a few hundred rounds through it to break it in. Then someone smart said "just buy better clips" :laughing

After finding out it's not that comfortable, at least in the summer, to pack an XD subcompact 9, I realized I need something much slimmer and lighter but I didn't want a 380, so I went with this Kimber Solo in 9mm. :D
