The Federal government funds local food banks?...

Don't worry, help will be coming soon when the Feds tell us we can go back to work if we want and the States can't stop us.
>$2 Trillion funding to help Americans deal with this situation.

Food banks and getting food to them seems like a no-brainer.

Isn't that what EBT is for. They get a card and go to the store just like everybody else?

Or are you talking about soup kitchen type places?

Just seems like 1200 stimulus, unemployment +600 extra unemployment, EBT, etc. Those who lost jobs can shop just like anyone else.

Maybe I'm missing something, I just applied for unemployment today. So this is all new to me.

It could be months before some get the check.

What are they supposed to eat until then?

Oh, that's right, big rodent problem in central valley. Not great eating, but hell, it's meat.

So on top of that they Feds should be in the business of getting food to local food banks? Aside from the fact that the Feds aren't even remotely equipped to execute on something like that, where do you stop? I think the country you're looking for is Russia.

If you want to help, donate to your local food bank. We have and will continue to do so.

Ah, but the military is.

But, don't let their experience in logistics get in the way of a good 'you should live in Russia'.

Setting up a whole new supply chain to supply food banks will be expensive(even if using the military). It's gota be more cost effective to simply put money on a card and they can shop at already established food chains.

The military has built a supply chain in less than a month to efficiently deliver food from the thousands of producers to the thousands of local food banks nationwide? :laughing What blog did you read that on?

It's all non sense. Climber, do not rely on the government to do anything for you, trust me in most cases you will just be disappointed.

When did we become so soft we could not take care of ourselves?

Besides I guarantee more than half of the people in line for food could just stop eating and drink salt water for a month or more. They have all the calories needed to sustain them on their fat asses.

If this "event" doesn't teach everyone that we need to toughen up, save some money and food for a rainy day and become "anti-fragile" then fuck it we are doomed.

A lot of those people are in good shape to weather the pandemic food shortages. Who knew fat asses were all part of strategic planning.

Do you know anything about logistics?

Plenty of food around, issue is people don't have money to buy it.

It's not a food shortage if I can order a pizza delivered to my house. Maybe you can't buy your favorite brand of Kale, but the grocery stores have plenty of calories for sale.

Yes, which is why I know that what you describe is a pipe dream. Even for a very well run company, much less our military.
The army functions quite different from a company. Wars are won and lost by supply chains. They train many people on how to move everything needed to anywhere it's needed.

Outside of shipping companies, they have the top expertise in such matters.

The infrastructure already exists, to get food from the farmers to the distribution centers. The problem is that the farmers aren't getting any money for their crops because of the loss of resturants and other clients, so they're just destroying them at the point of harvesting them. Meanwhile there are hungry people who are being fed by food banks that can't get enough food.

Not sure why that's such a hard concept to understand.

I've seen the lines to get free food when I am out making DoorDash deliveries. LONG lines are cars that wraps around the block. I saw on at James Like Highschool and one at a nearby church. I think there is one at the Nation Guard Armory also. It's sad to see how badly people are starving.

I have to say that is wrong because what is a unit made up of different sections or platoons? A company the exact word you used. An army unit works very much like a company. You have a CEO of the company that would be the company commander usually a captain. Then you have something like a Branch or regional manager that's a Battalion Commander. A battalion is made up of several companies. A Brigade is several battalions. Ever unit and element has a specific job to do just like a company. I could on an on about NCOs etc etc... but you get it the military works very much like a company or corporation. 13 years in the Army and that's what I can tell you.
