Check Kelly Blue book, NADA, CycleTrader, Ebay, Craigslist (even though some people on Craigslist are asking non-realistically high prices and will never be able to sell the bike at their asking price), and know what the current market value of a similar bike is before considering a purchase. Consider the maintenance work or fixes that YOU need to do to the bike, and factor that into the price. It is ok to pay more for a bike that has had all of the maintenance work done to it recently, or pay less and get a bike that needs some work, but you must know this in advance and be ok with it.
    • Inspecting the bike: if you are not experienced yourself, have a mechanic or an experienced friend check the bike before making a purchase. Crashed bikes:This is even more important if you are buying a bike that is being sold at a cheaper price with damages that the buyer is required to fix. In these cases, doing a frame check that will show any frame/fork/geometry damages is HIGHLY recommended. Do NOT simply rely on the information that the seller is providing, even he/she may not be aware of all the problems. Have the crashed bike checked and know what you are getting into.
    • Clean title, Salvage title A clean title doesn't mean the bike is free of serious issues. A Salvaged title doesn't mean the bike may have any problems. Every case is different. Some bikes are seriously damaged in a crash, but an insurance claim is never made on them, so they still have a clean title. Some bikes have had mostly cosmetic damages in a crash, but the insurance company decided to pay off the bike and salvage the title rather than spending the money to fix it. Know what you are getting into and don't make any assumptions based on what the seller is telling you.
    • Registration: Know about the current registration status of the bike. Check with DMV if you have any questions about any possible back fees and other title/registration questions (out of state title, no title with bill of sales only, etc.) before purchasing the bike.

    • Comments within a sale thread should be on topic and educational. Aggressive critiques and inside jokes will not be tolerated. Don't fuck it up, because the next step is disabling the "reply" feature entirely.
    • If you disagree with a price, keep it to yourself. The seller has set the price. If you don't like it, don't buy it and move on. If you really feel strongly about it, then PM the seller.
    • If you are interested in an item, feel free to PM, email or contact the seller privately. Feel free to post if you need clarification... however, your post should be in line with above mentioned rules.
    • If you are aware of a serious issue with an ad (SPAM, stolen goods, a frame damaged bike being advertised as a 'never crashed' bike, etc.) please PM a moderator about it.

      BARF isn't craigslist, ebay, cycletrader, etc. Buyers who are looking to buy from random strangers do so on one of the above mentioned sites. Those who only post in Classifieds sections and don't take part in other parts of BARF are no different than any other random sellers on Craigslist, etc., and should use channels other than BARF to try and sell their items.
    • If you're affiliated with a store/shop, please contact budman regarding sponsorship options. ALL non-sponsor commercial posts will be deleted. Site sponsors should post using only one account that is assigned a BARF SPONSOR tag.

My gear has just been collecting dust in my closet for months now, so I'm putting it up for sale. Don't tell Viet (therok229) though 'cause he gave me most of the stuff as gifts and now I'm pawning it off! :shhh :laughing

As most of you know, I only wore the stuff a few times here and there as a passenger.

Anyway, here's what I have:

SHOEI HELMET
Style: RFR 8 Ball
Size: XS (Yes, I know I have a kid-sized head).

The pic gives an idea of what the helmet looks like but is not the actual one.
I bought a smoke-colored tinted face shield for mine. I don't know where the original clear one is. Never been dropped and no scratches. Minor wear&tear on chin strap.

ALPINE STAR BOOTS
I have no idea what style they are. They are basic black leather with velcro closure. They are regular comfy riding boots, not the kind with metal crap in it. I think they are size 36, and I wear a size 5 women's shoe normally. These are like new...worn a few hours total.

Price: $100 each item...buy both for $180!

Both items are in excellent condition. Buy either one and I'll throw in some Joe Rocket (I think) gloves for free, too. Again, these are probably size Small or XS and colors are yellow and blue, but I have no idea what style they are.

If you're small (size 2 or 4 or around there), I also have a jacket or two (one with armor, one without)...but Viet still has them in his closet. If interested, let me know and I'll give details! :)

More Info...

I spoke with TheRok229 who will try to get me the jacket shortly. I only have the one with armor available (he apparently has gotten rid of the other one already!). Unfortunately, I am out of town the this weekend and then out of the country for the next 2+ weeks, so I won't be able to show it during that time.

Viet says it's an AXO black leather jacket with built-in armor for the elbows and shoulders and removable inner liner, but we have no idea on the model/style, etc. I'd say it's closer to a size 4. I normally wear 0-2, but with a sweatshirt underneath, it fits OK. The price for the jacket will be $180obo.

As for the boots, they say "Stage" on the side, so I am assuming they are these ones (but I could be totally wrong): Lookie Here

As a side note, if you buy everything (helmet, jacket, boots, and gloves), I'll sell it for the low, low price of only $320!

I looked online but couldn't find pix. I'm sure it's not a NEW model 'cause I've had it for at least 2-3 years, and without a model/style, it's nearly impossible to find! It's pretty basic - black. TheRok229 says if he has time he'll shoot some pix. Otherwise, I'll try to do it when I get back.
