Small truck ebola ?

The last couple of days I've noticed a lot of small trucks taking naps on the side of the road, in ditches, and even up some hillsides.

Is there some sort of small truck sickness going around ?

Small pickups without a load spin up the rear tires easily, and if they don't have ABS tend to lock up the rear wheels and go anywhere when braked too hard.

That's what I was gonna say.

Back east we put weight over the rear wheels of any pickup truck come winter time.

Apropos to nothing, when I lived in Big Sur and had lots of muddy roads, I owned three vehicles. A Dodge 4wd power wagon, a 47 Willys Jeep, and a VW squareback. Guess which one always made it home and which two would be found mired in mud.

Hint, in the winter I put a couple hundred pounds in the back of the VW.

<----- commutes over hwy 17 everyday in a mid sized pickup. Sees at least one vehicle where is shouldn't be every day it rains.

When I was a teen my uncle taught me how to drive stick in old 4wd Toyota's out in dirt lots/back roads/offroad trails. First lesson was how to slide around in the mud doing figure 8's in the rain. So much fun! In VT Winters we always put a bunch of fire wood or sandbags in the back for traction.

The mud down there is weird and awful. Nto surprised the dub worked. I had friend that lived down there and we would take his beetle to get up the road or a motorcycle. I could do it in my truck but it was a hassle when it got wet enough.
