Budman- I didn't want to hijack your thread, so I started a new one.......

My 2018 Mustang GT Premium PP1 is a garage queen, I put 5k miles on it in 2 years. I got a new Pit Bull puppy right before bringing the new car home (2 years ago). My amazing puppy decided that my car would be a great chew toy.

I have not had the repair done, because she was still a puppy. Now, she is turning 2, so I think that it may be safe to have the car repaired. She ate the splitter (I can get an aftermarket replacement for $200 to $600. No big deal. The real issue is that she chewed on the body. There is a 4 inch section of painted fender/grill (the part that looks like a sharks gill) that needs to be repaired.

I went to 1-800-Dent-Pro in Campbell for a door ding-- BTW-- The Guy was awesome. He repaired a dime-sized ding on my fender for $40!!!!!!! You cannot tell that it was even there. I asked him for a quote for the front fender and he said $900. (I'm nervous about giving him this larger job) I'm wondering if I should not file an insurance claim, and just pay him out of my pocket? Or, if I file an insurance claim, I want to bring it to Yeamans, in Palo Alto, and get it done PERFECTLY, but I'm afraid of my already overpriced insurance going higher???? Should I call my Agent and ask them if this will cause my overpriced rates to go up even more? Or, should I not tell them that I have a dog who eats cars?

Anyone who says; "Shoot or get rid of the dog",,,,, :twofinger:twofinger:twofinger

My dogs are MUCH more important than a car.

Beagles are AWESOME. My Wife's Beagle passed away last year, at 14 y/o. Her Beagle did not destroy anything, except for our carpets!!! She was a pissing machine. She was always having accidents!!!

She was the dominant dog over my two Pitties.

Need a photo. I'd say do your best to avoid a repair that'll hit the carfax report. Unless you're buried in the car, people will give you crap about any findings on it.

If you are referring to it's value dropping,,,
I do not care about resale value. Mustangs are worthless used. I bought ALL of the options, plus the service plan, plus the extended warranty. I will NEVER be able to sell this thing and anywhere get near what I paid for it. I'm stuck with it. My main concern is whether my insurance premiums will jump up.

my general rule of thumb is if it is less than 1.5k I pay for it myself.

The last was a hit and walk (into the bar) and it was 2.5K... since it was my Dad that hit it..I just paid for it. Since I knew who did it and I could not honestly say who did it and I had just put in a claim 6 months earlier for another hit and run that was 3K. Even though I did nothing my insurance still bumped. Fuckers!
