Sigh... that time of the year (moto down 85N)

Passed an accident this AM on 85N. Bike on the side so I couldn't really see what it was. CHP log says black Suzuki, doesn't list anything in the way of injuries.

Earlier this week I had a rider show up behind me quite suddenly (I split kinda fast at times, not a slow poke) and so I pop into a gap. He waves as he passes me at WOT on an sv650. Traffic was doing ~10mph, i'm guessing he got to around 60. Out of sight within a minute. I am thinking that was the same bike. Most likely a student at DeAnza CC, I see a lot of squidly behavior leading up to that exit.

I hope he walks away without much pain. But I guess its a lesson that the laws of physics apply to everyone. I just hope the cages that I share the road with don't start hating me in response to this type of behavior. We are truly our own worst enemy. Stay safe everyone. :ride

Thanks for the reminder. I think I need to ease off on the throttle myself when splitting.

I really am in disbelief at the speeds some split at. I feel I split on the upper limits of reasonable, and I split anything not going the speed limit, and am constantly amazed at the speeds some go... 30, 40mph over traffic speeds. darting in and out of multilanes high-speed traffic. Nuts man. Deathwish. People already hate motorcyclists.

Drivers already resent motorcycles in general and I doubt commuters are going to be sympathetic when we can roll past them while they sit in exhaust hell overheating. I've had two people pull into my path of travel this week - one of them I suspect was intentional. For every 99 good riders there's always the one dickhead that makes everyone look bad. This morning I had a Busa behind me entering SB 101 from Novato and the moment he hit the merge he pegged it and took off going about 90 mph. He was already a mile ahead of me splitting at high speed when I lost view. I certainly don't want to see any riders folded but I can see why it happens.

Merely Rhetorical
It is motorcycle season, and I mean that in a bad way...

I think drivers who engage in road rage with a motorcycle or take these actions against motorcycles, for being motorcycles, should be subject to some kind of hate charge.
