Ride Again!
Sounds interesting, how many riders usually go? I've got a comfortable 150 mile range per tank, does that work with your planning? What are you gonna be riding?

3-4 riders typically.

I will ride my Suzuki Hayabusa, two other friends have confirmed, one rides a Yamaha FZ1, the other a BMW S1000R.

150 mile tank range is great. We usually stop & stretch every 100 miles anyway.

Gas stops: Start → Jamestown → Walker (if needed) → Bear Valley → Bay Area.

If the gas station at Walker is closed and you really need gas, we can ride up 4 miles to Topaz.

Pace is sporty, but easy going.

Just an FYI, but I was up in the 395 area of where route 4 is recently and there's a major re-paving job going on there. Might be done by then
Just saying

Thanks, no closures on Hwy 4 right now, but looks like Hwy 89 is closed, hoping it opens up by the 23rd.

Ride Again!
I'm in barring a family or work emergency which rarely happens. I'm up for a sporty pace. I put a kinda retro fairing & windshield on I'd like to get more long distance riding miles on. This should be a good ride. I'm not into big groups especially on sporty rides, hopefully the number stays reasonable. I'll meet you in Niles, just name the spot.

FYI, Rodden rd has been closed all summer. It should have been open by now and may be by your departure date but I'd check. It was still closed when I went by 8-26. Orange blossom remains open though.

So I had a Walker Burger Friday, left S San Jose 5:45 am, back 7:45 pm. Did not take Orange Blossom Rd, traffic was light once I passed Sonora. Hwy 108 had good rains between Dardanelle and the pass, there were spots with heavy sand washed into the road from the rain. There is still road work on the east side of the pass, 20 min. wait with pilot car. The 395 re-paving job between Walker and the state line is still not done, there was a 5 min wait in one spot. Monitor pass is open again, the fire was between Hwy 395 and a few miles to the west, but not much variegation in this area. Hwy 4 has construction still going on near Calaveras Big Tree, about 10 min wait. Took Mines from Tesla, was clean, 5 min wait at the bridge construction at the bottom of Mt. Hamilton. A little sand on the west side of Mt. Ham here and there, nothing serious. Good ride.

There is a possibility of snow Thursday, but Friday and Saturday are clear.

It's going to be cold (50s) on top, but I think we should be OK.

Warm gear necessary.
