Negative. I converted mine to featureless, so they should be safe for a little longer than playing the workaround game. On the plus side, I can drop mags with my finger like you're supposed to and kill waaaaaaaaay more babies. So...babies better be lookin' out.

I just want to see what the statistics for cosmoline sales are every time one of these bans go down. :laughing

It sucks but you had time to register your weapons and on top of that if the site was down you could always investigate and make some phone calls. I just don't have any sympathy for these folks.

If you had to register your taxes and the site was down would you just wait or be proactive about it?

Of course, registering your taxes isn't an invitation to have the government come kill you...

Dude in Bakersfield had multiple illegally configured rifles as well as suppressors; while although he had stamps for - are a big no no in our dear state.

Secondly, suit has been filed against DOJ already addressing the registration issues and the fact that no public education efforts were made whatsoever; suit is seeking a simple extension on the ability to comply so it will likely be granted, but we shall see.

So you would handle it differently? Would you just let the date pass and say yolo? If getting a felony doesn't put a fire under your ass to resolve this I don't know what would.

I'd try the website route. If that didn't work I'd call. If that didn't work I'd send a certified mail. If that didn't work I'd hire a lawyer. What I wouldn't let happen is letting a felony get on my record.

I tried to register, the website kept going down during the process. Eventually, I was able to do it, theoretically.

It's been a month and I haven't received anything in the mail or any word about it.

I guess I'll be heading to prison soon.

It was obvious during the process that the government did not want you to register.. they did not make it easy. It took me an hour of refreshing the page just to process my payment.

How are you supposed to know? What if you've chosen to live out in the hills without internet being a huge part of your life. Or are we all expected to realistically browse https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/ everyday? Many folks still to this day are completely unaware that they are now felons.

Did you take a picture of the payment screen? How are you going to protect yourself?

If you own a firearm you should know the laws relating to it right?

Agreed. Perhaps you could have already guessed that answer though, seeing as how I seem to be informed already? :twofinger

Besides, that's a poor way to detract from the fact that thousands of law abiding citizens are now felons completely unbeknownst to them. I dunno....maybe we wait and see how a judge feels about it before we argue more about it on the internet though. :laughing

LOL, see my previous post. Do you know what cosmoline is? That is overwhelmingly the typical response is to these kinds of laws. MA just did some kind of big study on it in response to their registration laws failing.

Absolutely not. If you bought a two stroke chainsaw in 1962, totally legally, and live in the woods with no network access. Why the fuck would you know in 1998 that using your 2 stroke chainsaw to clear trees on your land is now illegal due to it not being a, "Smog Friendly," tool?

I expect all firearm owners to understand and know the laws around their firearms. They change almost every year and there are several sites with the info needed to stay in the know.

You're argument for firearm knowledge is rather weak. If I have a mag in my pistol and it's past the max size an argument of living in the woods without internet access isn't a get out of jail free card. It also won't work for your smog scenario as well. Know the law or get fucked by it.

And we will start to see who actually is a good firearms owner and who isn't. Lack of knowledge doesn't hold up in court.

I get it though. The law is fucked, how they did it is fucked as well. This is the cost of firearm ownership in America and it's only going to get worse.

Maybe, if when you came down out of the woods for supplies, they made you register your purchase of premix oil. That could have tipped you off and saved lives! :facepalm :wow
