Shoei Helmets in stock? Somewhere to try them on

There's a few styles on the Shoei helmets that I like and would like to both physically see and try on as I'm in between sizes and have never used Shoei before.

Is there a good shop around the East Bay that has a few of these helmets? Cycle Gear seems to continue to disappoint me more and more every time.

Are we having fun yet?
Don't see how with the virus going on; how things have changed... I'd upsize when I'm in-between sizes.

I bought my Shoe from Cycle Gear, but that was a few years ago. RoadRider used to have a shelve with helmets, but they are closed for some time now. I would guess online.

Shops like Roadrider went under because of guys like the OP trying stuff on then buying online.

Well you do get better deals online and free shipping
There’s no crime trying on a lid and buying from somewhere cheaper,

Perhaps not, Budge....but it should be considered a moral crime to expect a business to put out all of the expense associated with keeping a brick and mortar enterprise going only for it to be used as a personal display case for a competitor's on-line only warehouse.
The same people who bitch the loudest about having "only Cycle Gear" are the same people who led the way in driving good local businesses in to the ground.
The on-line versus brick/mortar argument is as old as the hills and is playing out once again before our very eyes. You can't kill all the animals then cry about not having any animals.

Well most brick/mortar shops stick the boot into its customers anyway..
It’s called free market my friend:laughing I always buy online for that reason..
I don’t shop at cycle gear either..buy out of state tax free plus free shipping and a better deal come on now, that’s the reason most of these places close up

Which models are you looking for and which sizes are you looking to try on? I can check inventory for our East Bay locations and see what's available. Maybe I can try to turn that disappointment around too.

SFMoto has great selection of Shoei and ordered the color I wanted after trying them on. It actually ended up being cheaper than Amazon after applying some loyalty points or whatever I didn't even know I had. They've been my go-to shop for years.

That being said I couldn't imagine sticking your head in a helmet that's not yours until we have a vaccine.

I used to go to Road Rider frequently and bought pretty much all my riding gear from them. But it was always a special order, so I had to visit a 2nd time.

Reminds Whammy of the song "living in a box"?? :rofl
Only thing anyone can recommend to ya OP is Mail order.
Make sure you do it through revzilla or someplace that allows exchanges.

At my local CG last weekend, curbside pickup area (store itself is off limits), the guy in front tried on 4 helmets brought to him by the clerk before picking one.... I was surprised to see that. Wonder what they did with the other three...........

The CG store in Pacheco seems to have quite a few Shoei in stock. For me, the
RF1000 was the most comfortable helmet I've ever owned. It's now worn out, I've tried other brands. Now saving up for another Shoei.

Well, it's a catch 22, I think...

Sore doesn't allow test fitments - Customer buys it and it doesn't fit, he's either screwed or will return (exchange) it anyway as it's unsafe to keep a poorly fitting lid
Store does allow test fitments - Customer gets the right lid the first time but exposed other lids to his cooties.

The answer is obviously head condoms....

They can set the tested helmets aside for a couple of days to kill the rona and that very well may be their policy.

I like my local Cycle Gear up here in Chico. Really cool/knowledgeable staff. I used to have to go to Sac to try on certain brands or find a tire. I always buy helmets and boots local. I order in store rather than online just so their store gets credit for the sale and we hopefully have a store years from now. I do make an effort but if they don't carry something like my Rocky Mtn ATV gear I just order online.

Our store has had a rough go of it. Opened right before the fires when they were empty, now the virus and again empty. I can't imagine the store has been profitable. I'm doing what I can to keep it in business.
