Shaving down seat and LP short stalks questions

I posted this question on SBN, but I never got a good answer, so I'll try here. I have a 2002 ZX-6r, but I'm a short guy, and I wanted to shave down my seat so I can get both feet flat on the ground, I'm tipy toeing at the moment. I was going to do it myself, but I know it will end up looking retarded and lopsided. So is there anywhere that could do it for relativley inexpensive?

A second question is about the LP short stalks. I installed some, but one of the bulbs blew out the same day. So I got some other bulbs that were close, but not the same, so my blinkers are really fast now. Is there anywhere that sells bulbs for the LP lights? Thanks!

what goes here?
Not sure about the bulbs but if you take the seat to a upolstry shop and have a gel pack installed in place of the seat foam it will get the seat lower and look good.

about the bulbs i think u might need to get a flasher relay i believe. thats what i have heard when people replace their blinkers and they go too fast. sorry i dont know the specs on which one.

any auto upholstery shop should be able to handle this- check the yellow pages. if you like the shape of the stock seat just have them section out the middle or bottom of the foam only? might try it yourself since not messing with the seat shape? then it should be simple to restretch the cover back on and staple/glue (though I heard the stapling is pretty tough)

maybe a combination of seat shaving and bike lowering to completely flat foot it. or you might just need a bit off the seat and be ok with it. changes the geometry to the pegs and clip-ons too but only slightly unless the saddle really gets whacked down.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not too worried about the geometry after cutting the seat down. My arms reach the clip-on pretty good, and I can deal with the pegs.

That gel seat is kinda of intruiging to me. Has anyone else done this mod? How does it hold up in the sun and water? And is it really expensive? I'm pretty poor.

mike the seat guy

hello. i am pretty short myself. i am 5'2. i had my seat shaved last week at "mike the seat guy." he seems rather known for his craft. i heard about him from 6 different strangers. here is his website - http://www.miketheseatguy.com/ mike did a pretty good job. he managed to shave off 1.5 inches from my seat while still making it comfortable. it's probably because i have a fat ass! anyway... since he was already taking my seat apart, i had him custom made my seat to look like a corbin seat. looks real nice! very affordable prices too. enjoy!

damn dude wish I heard this before! THANKS! Maybe I'll get him to "fix" my corbin since they aren't answering my emails. it's a bit too wide in front. or just corbinized the stocker since it's lighter. or... :teeth

THANKS FOR SHARING THE INFO MAN!!!

Do I dare dream of a day that I can stand with both feet flat on the ground proudly? Yes, that day has arrived. Thanks for the heads up!

But one question. When the seat is shaved, does it retain the original shape, or is it funny looking on the bike?

Any shop can order you or may have in stock some LP replacement bulbs, BUT, even with the LP bulbs your flashers may still blink fast due to them not being stock equipment. Easiest thing to do is replace your relay with a Tridon EL-12 which is a two pronged (like you already have in your bike) Electronic relay. It will still flash at normal rate even if your bulb burnt out. Good luck!

"mike the seat guy" can shave it any way you want. i just told him to shave as much off as he can while still making it comfortable. the outcome looked great. highly recommended.
