Sharpie to jacket

I have this Dainese D1 jacket for many years. Recently the "Dainese" print on the chest and both forearms is starting to bother me. It's a black jacket and the Dainese print is white. I'm thinking of painting the letters black to blend with the rest of the jacket. Has anyone tried painting leathers? Should I just take a permanent marker and color it? First world problems =)

I have used a sharpie in similar situations.
If it is leather, you might try leather dye. They make leather dye pens too.

Check at your local Michael's or Hobby Lobby in their leather crafts section.

Using a sharpie will turn it a weird metallic purple color regardless of how many “coats” with a sharpie you put on. Buy some fiebings or other quality leather prep and dye and it will look better.

I bought some spray cans from a automotive paint shop for leather
Made my red leather seats..Black...looked like new!

If it's sewn on you can try destitching them. I had this Ducati Dainese Jacket I did it to, and results were excellent. I can share pics too if you'd like.

use a flap wheel on your angle grinder and just remove the paint. the bonus is you'll have more street cred from looking like you crashed and spelled out Dainese with the rub marks as you surfed across the pavement. win win?

I tried leather dye on a worn section of an old black Dainese jacket. It ended up looking like your description of what a sharpie will do. Suppose it could have a crappie product I used.

I have used Color Bond LVP on a steering wheel, and it looked new for two more years that I had the car...great product. Washed the steering wheel with carb cleaner prior to painting :)

Clean well with alcohol and then use a product designed for leather.

And yes, the black sharpie looks purple.

The sharpie will look very tacky. Last time I bought a leather jacket that needed some “touch up” and I used leather color restorer. Works like a champ.
