Settlers of Catan - Who's Playing?

In my opinion, perhaps the best board game ever.

The wife and I have played with two other couples for around 5 years now. Usually our play sessions last until well after midnight. We really like the flexibility of the game play, and the mix of strategy and luck.

Each couple has a board, and we alternate who's house to go to. We added a part of the Barbarians expansion set to our normal board setup, and use only the lakes, borders and fish from that set.

Our cards and borders are starting to get old and worn so I was looking around for new ones. I ended up on Etsy and found some real good stuff!

Anyways, do you play? What expansion(s) do you use? Do you have a custom set up?

I play it like monopoly. You can sit around and lollygag for hours. Or you can get aggressive and be done in 1-2 hours. Either by bullying people into deals that aren't good for them or fucking up and losing your ass. :laughing

No way. 1-3 hours typically. If you add a bunch of expansions it can get crazy, but a standard 4 player game is pretty straight forward if the players have any idea what they're doing.

I like Settlers of Catan, but am more likely to play Agricola. It is somewhat similar to Catan, but with more variables and strategy.

I love Catan. Been playing for years. I have an online game through the app with a bunch of dudes. Very fun game, but not the best board game ever IMO.

Never played. Play others though. Risk being the one played most frequently. Would like to play more Formula De but can't find many takers.
