Sena 10s 2.0 firmware makes directions hard to follow?

Sena's help desk seems pretty useless about this, but since updating to the 2.0 firmware the sound now slowly fades up to full volume when any new sound comes in. This means that during a song, it slowly fades in to the right volume, which is fine.

The problem is that this means I will miss the first several words of any new directions that come in from my mapping programs, which is less fine. Sena seems unable to figure out what the hell I am trying to tell them, but wondering if anybody else here may have experienced the same and found a solution. The current firmware seems good for a lot of reasons, but this one issue is kind-of annoying.

Sena customer support is terrible. Whenever I think I need to listen to GPS I just pause my music and hope it gives me directions.

I have the 20S and I'm actually changing over to a Cardo Packtalk Slim.
From the reviews and comparisons I've read and watched, I should have made the switch a long time ago.

gone for now
I'll also say my SMH10 has a significant problem: the battery drains fairly quickly whether or not it's on.

If I fully charge it and leave it unplugged for a week, it's dead as a doornail.

It'll play music for 8h or so, so the battery isn't shot, there's just some sort of drain.

No drain on my 10s at all. I use it 20 mins each way commuting 2x/day and only need to charge it every 3 weeks or so. Only gripe I have is that the ringer is really low if I get a call while listening to music.

I've had two Sena's.... Sena 20S's to be exact.

At some point in the past few years, the firmware changed and the process in which it handles audio priority changed -- I.E., reducing volume to let another source be heard better, etc. And, when it did so, it began to majorly suck balls.

Add in the always-frustrating, and never working properly, group riding settings where you get constant feedback and popcorn and Sena's non-response. I'm done. Gone. The 30X was supposed to be the fix for all of these stupid things, due to "Mesh" technology. Doubtful, and I'm not going to find out.

Moved on, Cardo.

As far as the battery, it does last forever.

Trying to connect with more than 2 people on the Senas is so terrible and frustrating. Try mixing that with different Sena models and everyone wanting to listen to their own music... good fuckin luck..

This is why I'm going Cardo

Sena is trash.

Should have went with Cardo to begin with.

There are some new UClear models. They looked for feedback on ADV rider to create these. Wonder if anyone has any idea if any good?

That makes two of us, plus two of my friends. The constant popcorn, the constant reconnecting of the group, the constant open-mic that Sena for some reason decided was their best option... frustrating.

I clearly remember, maybe two or three years ago, absolutely loving how well the Sena prioritized and muted audio depending on it's source. I was listening to music, talking to a buddy riding nearby, and had navigation going. I distinctly remember being impressed that it would put my navigation first, voice second, and then music, and it very obviously and clearly lowered the volume of them then faded them back into foreground as necessary.

Then at some point, a firmware update just screwed all of that up. The options are still present in the app to set the levels, but none of them really work and you just end up with a slight variance - it's just stupid.

Couple that with just pure and utter frustration in group formats, or when you get that random "I forgot how to stay connected to my friend", even if there's only two of you, so you get to pull over on the side of the road and do the hand-shake game agian....

Nope, no more. Packtalk Bold coming my way.

As far as the UClear, my buddy has one -- doesn't do long group rides so can't comment but he does use it for music and phone and navi and it seems to work well.
