it's raining and my tires are... garbage. they're also fancy wheels because that's what my friend wanted and i bought the barge off of him.

2007 Chevy Silverado
currently wearing
lt305/55/20 but doesn't have to remain that. should be close though.

major usage is highway traveling, commuting and looking cool. someday it'll go to the snow and i don't' want to put chains on (i don't drive when it's chains+4x4+snow tires required, fuck that noise)

i usually go for whatever the Bridgestone AT Revo model is current but they're ~380 each these days and i may end up there again but ouch ouch ouch

current tires are Falken Wild Peak a/t3w and should have plenty of life left but weren't rotated soon enough and even if they were they seem to skitter on road grooves, squeak over every paint stripe and have zero traction on wet pavement. i think i prefer tires with more sipes vs the bigger blocks that this one has with only the sipes in the middle of the blocks which is basically a mud tire setup

anyway, everything in this size category seems to be in the same price range except the tires that are on it that i don't plan to buy again.

what say you BARF? suck it up and get my old stand by?

io'm not getting BFT AT KO whatever's either, over priced and didn't like them the one time i had some 15 eyars ago

Just went through toyo a/t II’s. Had 58,000 with life left but they were starting to cup in the front from not rotating enough. Started to get noisy from drying up. Age was a factor too at 5 years. Went right back to toyo again but with a/t III’s. Game changer. Shopped around American tire depot bested every price around by $250+

I quite buying new expensive tires this year since I am out of work.
I just picked up this new set of 5 Platinum take offs for $100.
Off craigslist..there is a ton of them out there..
In a few years I will have a stack of rims..:laughing

Some tire shops will Sipe your tires for 20 each. That helps to..
Saved myself $1400..

Half of Fremont hates you. You know, the ones with wheel-less cars in their driveway every morning.

I went with the newer bfg Ko2 AT's and at first was happy with the tire,. 10,000 miles later I am NOT,. They are wearing extremely fast compared to the old style Bfg AT without the side traction dodads. I'd say they are going to be trash by maybe 20-25k at most. Last set got me over 60k.

Going back to the Toyo's.

Man, you're kinda fucked...

The BFG's you hate have a 50,000 mile warranty in your size. Only tire that holds up in the dirt/gravel stuff that my truck sees. Interestingly, my size (265/75/16) doesn't have a mileage warranty.

I don't love the Falkens you have. They've proven to be mediocre on road and have the second most vulnerable sidewalls ever off road (1st are Nittos).

I had a terrible experience with Goodyears on my F250 (sidewall failure while towing). The Coopers I used to run (A/T 3's) were great on road, lasted while towing, but a gravel road cut through the treadwall. I had 3 flats in 20 miles, all cuts. The 6 other trucks on the run were on BFG's and had no issues.
If you never see gravel, I would recommend the Coopers.
If you ever want to drive on gravel, I'd go BFG. I know, you won't.
I have a set of KM3's (Mud terrains) on my F250 now. They're really good off road, and okay on road. I can break traction with power in the rain, but that's more to do with power than the tire. They're quiet, tow well (you saw my trailer), and don't have any actual bad characteristics when daily driving (I currently commute 50 miles each way in the truck).

Best of luck.

Zoinks!!!!
I liked the Michelin’s LTX AT2s I had on my F250. 60k mile warranty, decent fuel economy too.

If you have/find a set of 18” wheels, I’ve got a set of Firestone TransForce HT tires in 275/70-R18 tires for sale on Marketplace. They are mounted to OE 2008 Ford F-250 Lariat wheels and only had about 2k miles on them when they were pulled for different wheels. M+S rated so no need for chains. I’m looking for $500.

Toyo is hard to beat for quality truck tires.

As another perk, many of their truck tires are made a little bit northwest of Atlanta, Georgia.

.

yeah. the hardest offroading this thing is going to do is hwy 880 and some fire roads someday. that said i hate how skinny these sidewalls are, i miss the ability to park by feel. your vehicle usage is completely different than mine :laughing

If you have/find a set of 18” wheels,....
i'm looking now actually. factory spare wheels are a look i can handle, and one frequently sported on various chevy LEO mobiles. can't be too hard to find a set. they seem to be 17" tho.

Going back to the Toyo's.

Toyo is hard to be.

i'll check toyo.

i got those in 2nd place to these from general.

i have some General somethings on my jalopy grandpa truck. it basically just does Box store duty and dump runs as needed but the tires are really good for that :shrug

KO2's have a 6 year / 50,000 pro rata warranty, across the size line.

Absolutely love the Cooper Discoverer At3 XLT on a 2500 Suburban I did not experience "easy penetrability" on gravel roads (I think I have 275/55R20), but they do get loaded with gravel.

One additional aspect of them that I really like that nobody mentions (besides being made in the USA) is that they do not howl on turns....so they do not attract attention :)

Log Gatos Good Year (Tom) got them for me at a very reasonable price

I'm sure some of the problems I had are enhanced by the 7500lb curb weight of the truck and having to run 80psi in them. I'm with you 100% regarding mileage and on road behavior. I still have them on the highway only F250, but the one that takes me camping needs a more robust tire. I also carry 2 spares now.
