Saw this trike today

Marquez FTW
Was driving down the road and saw this in front of a little shop. Caught my attention so much that I had to turn around and look at it a little closer and take a couple pics.

The rider more or less ignored me and took off before I could ask him some questions about the bike. But what I got from the service guy was that it's an 70s Volkswagen engine in the back. And from watching the rider leave, the clutch is the upper pedal on the left side, the brake is the upper pedal on the right, and the STICK SHIFT is under where the left leg goes (visible in the first pic; it's the rod and ball right above the platform low on the left).

Not my style, but still pretty neat! :thumbup

'70's bug engine. May have been built later, but that's a 'run-of-the-mill' dual port bug engine. (probably 1600cc's, and about 45-50ish hp) The trike also features the bugs rear frame, suspension and transaxle.

I was thinking of making one of those once.

Yeah, they are certainly nothing to write home about in the power dept. But hey, at least that's twice the power the original late 1930's bug engine! lol. (25hp)

The real fun with a bug engine comes from the aftermarket.
The Bug engine in MY car has lots of fun 'go-fast' bits, and a turbo, and makes about 10 times that original stock hp level.

I'd be terrified however, to put half my power into a trike! Thing would probably just wheelie itself right on top of me in an instant! hahaha!

And yep! That's a great J.C. song!
