Rossi .. Does NASCAR

I'm not surprised he did so good. Recall he's one of those humans who is cool as a cucumber while racing. Where others had heartbeats of 180 a minute, Rossi was like 120 & barely working up a sweat. Kinda like Mario Andretti...

I think he could likely race anything & do good. Should'a gone F1 years ago...

I thought it was cool to see another good crossover, and wasn't surprised to see him go well, but it's worth mentioning that with these kind of things it's pretty common for teams to forget to ballast weight ;).

More importantly in terms of 2 to 4 wheels, I am genuinely impressed with Pastrana's top 10 yesterday!

I am willing to bet Valentino had a lot of fun with this and am not surprised at all that he went fast right out of the gate. I heard it was some kind of sponsor thing, but that he was excited to try a stock car.

Yes, Travis is starting to catch on. Good on him. Next stop, podium! I think he has the car to do it. But I digress...

AYE YAH!
I thought it was funny when Valentino mentioned it was weird trying to drive straight in the car. :laughing

The suspension and steering on those cars are totally set up to maintain ridiculous speeds while in a high speed sweep. At speed, you have to maintain active steering pressure to the right in order to track straight.

also, the banking around most NASCAR ovals would stop any car from going straight if u arent holding the steering wheel.

Hell I can't believe almost every barfer would be getting shits of giggle driving one of those NASCAR rigs.. I know I would. It may not be all that exciting for Moto Race fans to watch, but to actually do it would rock.

And Weasel.. that car sings.. drive me hard.. sweet :thumbup

If Valentino Rossi was shocked at how fast the NASCAR machines enter the turns, imagine how scared we would feel? We'd be RICH from shitting gold bricks. :laughing

I have a friend at work who did the Richard Petty school and had a blast. In a de-tuned version of the car, he said that after 8 laps he came out of the car completely drained and shaking. I can believe that, it's a pretty physical deal.

i bet he only said that because he expected it to enter corners like a tank. hes driven F1 cars a few seconds off of lap records and a NASCAR has nothing on that experience esp for corner entry.

Oh Absolutely. F1 cars corner like they are on fly paper and pull significant Gs. So it's basically apples to oranges.

I remember when ChampCar was still going they intended on doing a race at Texas Motor SPeedway with the new DP01 car but had to cancel the event because the cars were going so fast and pulling nearly 7+ Gs, sending the drivers into tunnel vision and pre-blackout conditions. And the cars stuck to the track! That is just insane.

hehe ya, an F1 car around an oval would be a test of circulation and heart-strength, not driver skill. hard to drive a car when theres no blood on your head.
