RM125 VIN Location?

Trying to update the reg on my RM125, but having one hell of a time tracking down a VIN on this thing. Can anyone confirm the location? I'm aware of the 'usual' locations on bikes, but no dice on the front of the frame

Check motor?

It should have a big metal "stamp" on the frame near the headstock, with the year imprinted and the VIN in the metal portion.

Thanks Ev

I do have a motor number, but the expected VIN stamp isn't there. It may have been painted, and I heard it used to be raced.

Yeah, probably got taken off.

Maybe just re-stamp it and go for a special construction certificate. I think they only do them once a year though.

I remember having a bike that couldn't get registered. Pretty useless since you can only use them on private land.

If the rider was a sponsored support rider, it may be a frame that was never stamped, probably never sold but given to rider, usually these are supposed to be returned to factory and destroyed.

Well even if it was a race-only frame, they can't have it back. It's mine now :p Unless they want to trade me for a bike with a VIN!

I'll see about getting a VIN for it, or maybe I'll sell it and avoid the trouble.

try sanding the area near the head stock. The paint should come off everywhere except where the stamp is/was. This is assuming it is stamped into the metal. I had to do this with an old yz.
