If any of you are regular Sunday Morning Ride guys, you'll be saddened to know Richard Sacks, aka Pigpen or Dicky, passed away after a mountain biking injury.

We disagreed about politics and he rode like a maniac, but I loved him dearly. He was a pretty awesome dude, and his passing is yet another reason to despise 2020.

I haven't yet heard any info about memorial services. Best thoughts and hugs to all who knew and loved him.

Please feel free to post, especially if you hear anything about memorial ride, etc.

Dicky was a regular in a group I rode with not long after I moved to the bay. Always enjoyed his sincere conversation and had the pleasure of catching up with him in September. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

Latest (unconfirmed) word is tomorrow's SMR will be an impromptu memorial for Dicky. If it isn't, should still be a good ride!

That is a fucking drag. I had some fun rides following way behind him. I got him to go to Baja for a couple days of off-roading. Malcolm Smith repaired his boot buckle at Santa Veronica outside of Tecate.
RIP Dicky

We just went on a 3 day ride in the high sierra's a couple weeks back - he was certainly controversial but he will be sorely missed, a good soul. RIP

I’m crushed. I adore Dickie. The last time I saw him he insisted I try out his new 790 Duke. He had great taste in toys!

It’s my first memory with Dickie that I cherish most. It was back in 2014. I was still a relatively newer rider but I somehow received an invite to a rolling adventure rally. I was terrified of what the riding would be like and the company as I only knew the ride leader. Rolling up to the meet point did nothing to assuage my nerves... lots of dudes on big ktm adv bikes. I was slow but I made it to our hotel that night.

Dickie walked over and started talking to me and had me sit with him at dinner. I remember him ordering an ice cream from the tiny tots menu and me thinking that was the funniest thing. But the best part of that memory was no longer feeling like an interloper because of his kindness and curiosity.

I had a lot of great conversations with Dickie over the years. I also learned to live and enjoy life now! I enjoyed watching him get Gabe spun up during political discussions while he sat there cool as a cucumber. Dickie had figured out what was important in life and what wasn’t. He was always in a really good mood.

I’m going to miss the everloving fuck out of Dickie. But not nearly as much as his wife and kids will. He LOVED his wife, it was sweet. I’m sending her a big hug and consoling myself knowing he’s riding with two other veterans we’ve lots this year.

Dickie, long may you run. Love ya, friend.

Ha! Mostly true but I could get him to yell and wave his hands around and spit bits of food all over me. I'm kind of glad the Station House is gone now, because it wouldn't be the same without him.

Got to know him this year, chatting on sundays, and more recently comparing notes on KTMs. Always seemed to have a mischievous sense of fun. Nice guy. RIP.
