RIP Ray

I disagreed with much of what he said and his confrontational style but I considered him part of our Bay Area life and I'm sorry for his dementia. Seems weird that little details of how he died are being offered and that the sheriff is soliciting information.

RIP.

In the woods in Kentucky...

There are hints he may have had a bit of dimensia. He was 79. I'm hoping nothing nefarious happened to him.

Interesting fact, I saw a science documentary on sleep on night and Ray was part of it. He was never able to sleep more than 4 hrs a night his entire life. Must have been a help when doing late night radio. There is a mention of it here.

I also got a kick out of his stance on religion.

Ray’s views were very controversial, especially his views on organised religion where he frequently referred to “the Beautiful Black Woman in the Sky” and that “the lord works in mysterious ways, her wonders to behold.” I enjoyed that. Some listeners had a problem with it, especially the fake-”Christians” in the audience. (The fake-”Christians” are the frauds who wrap themselves in the bible (and usually the US flag) and call themselves a “Christian,” yet their actions, behaviour, voting record and the way they live their life are the exact opposite of what we have been told about who Jesus was and how he lived his life). During those days, whenever I talked about the Floating Cloud Being with people I knew, I referred to “the Beautiful Black Woman in the Sky.”

Ray made me cringe too more than once. Liberal as I ma I thought he was a bridge too far sometimes. But, If we live in a world with Limbaughs and Hannateys we need a Ray too.

I disagreed with him virtually every time I listened to him on my late night dog walks.
A true Bay Area icon that will be missed.
The old guard KGO late night guys are leaving us.
Say hi to Dr. Bill W. for us Ray.

If you ever read the book "Why We Sleep" you will learn that dementia and sleep deprivation may be related.

"EXCUSE ME SIR!!! EXCUSE ME SIR!!! OK, I'm gonna have to pot you down!"

I used to listen to him on KGO. When he got pissed it was hilarious.
