Godspeed, the pain and journey his family faces is unthinkable.

The SO press officer and news media all said, "he was taken to a nearby hospital". I don't recall any kind of hospital in Newman, closest is Modesto- some 25-30 miles away. Any idea what facility they were speaking of?

Oddly, my county of San Benito wasn't on the Blue Alert distribution. Seems odd as H152 is the sole gateway to the south bay from Newman.

A man who was in the country illegally and had known gang ties was arrested Friday in the fatal shooting of a police officer in Stanislaus County, authorities said.

Gustavo Perez Arriaga, who had prior arrests for drunken driving, was arrested in Bakersfield, Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson said at a news conference Friday. Arriaga’s brother and a co-worker, who were also in the country illegally, were also arrested for allegedly hindering the investigation.
