I talked to one of the Hayward officers (Mike) about this. It's generally the same as the Alameda County Sheriff's Office product but without the rentable KZ1000-Ps. Ride your own bike, assume your own risk.

I'm in, when he asked when I started riding and I said 1978, he said I'm old. :teeth He didn't ask what I ride, tho. :party :laughing

sadly, email reply from Officer Matthews : The June course has been filled to capacity. Please keep an eye out for future dates.

Adverse Selection
Have they published future dates? This could be a great resource for rider skill development and survival. I applaud the city of Hayward for making this happen.

Awww damn... we should keep an eye out for future classes. If it’s anything like the ACSO class, it’s gonna be a lot of fun and a good learning experience. Too bad you won’t be able to flog the retired ACSO bikes though... :)

It's great to see these classes filing-up so quickly though! I think there's hope for the life style (notice I didn't say 'sport') :thumbup

Absolutely.
Just sent Mike an email asking for either a waiting list (you always have some no-shows) or a future class.

my son "thinks" he want's to try it. Only bad thing is my only bike, is a ZRX1200. Maybe a lil' too big for 1st try??

Plus I got to get carbs cleaned; it hasn't run in a couple years, so I assume it's fuel system is all gunked up, rust in tank, etc.

Any of these schools have small bikes to rent w/insurance?

Thanks...

Good news - a slot for this class just opened up, yay!!!

Bad news - It's the slot that had my name on it, I can't go, my bike's in the shop getting new choos (PR5s, yay?), there's a small glitch with the clutch, the brake fluid needs replacing, and the likely time to get done is Saturday, so... :party on dudes/dudettes!!! :teeth

Call Officer Matthews @ 510-293-7011 and git gud!! :teeth

How was the course?
Wish I could have attended. I just got a bike running, and was at a festival the same weekend so I couldn't have joined anyways, but was very interested.

Hope it comes up again and I can sign up.
