WSBK just announced full calendar which was devoid of Laguna. Can AFM replace that noise-free weekend? I realize how unrealistic and expensive this might be for the club, but figured I'd ask.
Truth is that right now Laguna is in total turmoil, SCRAMP is out after 6 decades, and the new management wants "family friendly" activities, whatever that is. My understanding is that right now nobody is even scheduling events.
We've been poking around/ asking every year for a few years. Paul Keiffer took lead on it and has had help from Eric and myself where needed. The problem that's left unsolved is the sound limit: we'd need a 103db day.
That being the case...I've got an idea that just occurred to me...
WeatherTechs Open letter said there was a "motorcycle Event" TBD in the spot WSBK would have occupied- Might have the lads look into piggybacking. that calendar spot was an open sound one...

And afterwards take the kids out with metal detectors to search for undetonated ordinance.
Cycling the track isn't an "event." It's using the county park as intended. Might be fun on an electric bike. Hmmm, might make a good stop on the calendar for Moto/Formula-E.
Any details about why? Those Southern tracks get to be WERA West territory. I'd love to see a 3 way WERA AFM MA weekend.
C'mon man! It's Laguna! If they can figure out a way to have track days there you can surely figure out a partnership to get a race on the calendar for America's oldest org.
We're not large enough to get close for a 103 sound day. Without that, we're jogging the track, unfortunately.
I was reading today that a small boutique motorcycle "tour" company had secured a 105db 2 days in November 2020-
What is the criteria in getting an open sound day if it is being awarded to "small" groups?
This is the outfit claiming an open sound day-

Correction they are Claiming they have secured the ONLY 3 consecutive days at 105db for 2020?
