Road reopens after officers investigate fatal CHP pursuit

Dec 19, 2014 1:30 AM by Vanessa Vasconcelos

The California Highway Patrol has reopened Lincoln Blvd from Messina to Kusel this morning after a fatal pursuit.

The crash happened at Firloop Circle. They have the strech of Lincoln shut down as they are treating it as a crime scene.

Just before 6 tonight, the CHP officer involved was on patrol when he noticed a motorcycle pulling out of a parking lot that had plates that weren't visible. Once he put his lights on, the motorcycle took off southbound on Lincoln, running the stop light at Ohir. He then lost control when he turned a corner, hitting a telephone pole at Firloop circle.

The first officer on scene attempted CPR. Once paramedics arrived they pronounced the motorcyclist dead. Sgt Sanders tells Action News Now the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. The CHP is not identifying the driver as they are still trying notify next of kin.

Oroville >> An Oroville man was killed Thursday evening after fleeing law enforcement and crashing into a power pole.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Thao Chao, 35, of Oroville was fleeing southbound on Lincoln Boulevard north of Stanley Drive at an estimated 100 mph when he failed to negotiate a left curve and his Honda motorcycle smashed into a power pole about 5:45 p.m.

A CHP officer had tried to stop Chao on a registration violation earlier, according to the police report.

The motorcyclist allegedly ran a stop sign and later a red light on Ophir Road.

The report said Chao sustained fatal injuries from the collision.

I know family of the deceased. They have been told several things that don't add up regarding his injuries and subsequent cause of death. These include a possible gunshot wound. At this point, any information would be helpful.

That sucks. Sorry it's close to home for you.

The above quoted would have helped if it was in your OP. No matter now though. Our back and forth has occurred and now people can help out more.
