Rider down WB 80 - Fairfield

DTM74

It's not my fault...
At about 1:45 on westbound 80 in Fairfield an accident occurred about 1 minute in front of me. Cars came to a sudden stop and as we inched forward I saw a rider face down in the No. 3 lane. His bike was 100ft beyond him on fire.

As a rider, the scene was nothing you ever want to witness, or your significant other. As we passed the rider, my wife yelled, "Oh my god! Oh my god! He's dead....he's dead." I pulled over after his bike and jumped out grabbed by fire extinguisher from the truck and tried to put out the flames out to no avail. The bike was engulfed in flames and my extinguisher ran out...

There was nothing we could do as everyone was calling 911. Just a horrible situation...praying for the best.

Attaboy, Dan. To run towards danger is something that takes quite a bit of fortitude. Sorry you and your sweety had to witness that. Hoping for the best.

I heard this on the news. My heart went cold. I work with a new rider from that area.
I hate this part.
