Rider clotheslined by downed lines.

Brian had emergency surgery to his face and palate and a tracheostomy but is still in ICU. The downed power line hit him in the face of his helmet which is probably a lot better than if it caught him in the unprotected neck.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear there are friends like you and skilled healers to help support Brian through his recovery.

I googled the area based on the news article and see an overpass like any other. This could have happened to any of us. :(

Brian is a major contributor on the electricmotorcycle forum and was on his Zero when this happened.

Godspeed healing Brian!

Thanks for the update, Michael. Crossing fingers for a good outcome for him.

Whatever that means
He also Created the unofficial Zero manual and was a big help to a lot of folks in the Electric motorcycle community. I think he is at Santa Clara hospital and deserves a visit.

It sounds like Brian may get to leave ICU soon. He's got about 8 stitches going up his cheek from the corner of his mouth but doesn't look too bad otherwise. But he says he's lost his palate and upper teeth and can't talk or eat. Nothing was said how long he'll have to breathe through the tracheostomy.

But he is posting on FB so he's alert and cogent.

Best wishes to a full recovery for the rider.

This happened sort of to my Uncle who was a dispatch rider for the British Army during WWII.

Germans had set up a wire designed to hit at neck height across the road but it thankfully hit him at the top of the chest so he survived.

Sounds pretty rough but that he might pull through. :thumbup

Wow..

Michael

Thanks for the updates. Glad he is alert, but this sucks.
Really hope his course back is not to long and he can fully recover.

Please send him our best wishes.

About 20 years ago I was de-horsed by a hanging telephone wire on 3rd Avenue, right after I made a right turn from Geary Blvd.
I was a little banged up, VTR had left side bodywork damage.
I got a police report, called my lawyer, who wrote a letter.

13,875 dollars from AT&T.

Could've been much worse, if I had been rolling at high speed.

Get well, Brian!
