Rebuilding a Bandit 400

I've got a few B400s that I'd like to turn into one BAB400 (BadAssB400) for a good friend of mine.

I need work out a some details:

1) Where should I get the engine rebuilt?

2) I'm swapping suspension with a later model Gixxer and I can't tell what year the swinger came from. It's overall about 2" shorter than the stocker. Does anyone have experience with Raoring Toyz bolt on swing arm extensions?

I'd do some checking before getting a motor done. If the head needs work, you're going to spend $1200-$1500 just on that. Not sure if you're aware of how much engine builds cost today.

everyone says edco in petaluma is the shizzle.

ernie is probably right about the sticker shock you're in for.

it's a Japanese inline 4... run compression checks on the engines you have and use the best one?

Cost isn't too prohibitive but I'm not (too) insane.

Not a lot has been done, and I'm still on the head scratching stage.

When you compression test, a leakdown would be a good idea too. A leakdown will show the condition of both the rings and VALVES. Worn valves can, and do, run for awhile before cashing in. I have seen NEW engines with more leakage than I would allow to begin with. OH, and no more than 10% difference between the holes.:afm199:ride:party
