Anything beyond that I'm pretty much screwed especially water wise as there is a limit to how much I can store.

Do you have a tanked water heater? That's a handy 40 gallons.

There's also these bladder that fit in bathtubs that (given enough prescience) you can fill up. That can be another 40-50 gallons.

I have a tankless water heater, so I'm kind of SOL right now. Still scheming on a plan about that. In my old house I swapped out my 40 for a 50 for the extra 10 gallons. "Why not."

My plan is walk down to the nearest marina and pick a nice sailboat. I do pre-purchase inspections of boats for a living so I know where the good ones with water-makers and offshore gear are docked.

Yup. I've run a bunch of scenarios. The only one that basically works at all is a dirt bike over the Oakland-Berkeley hills and escape eastward, with lots of money. Which won't work mostly because that's where about one million people will be going. If that's the case, motel rooms are going to run $500 a night plus occupancy fee. Food will be non existant.

The problem with a hideout far away is that you have to get there.

As hinted above maybe the answer is to head out to sea as opposed to over the Oakland hills.

Throw some guns into the mix and they will call you King of San Francisco.

Son, those don't go in the bag, and what makes you think they don't already? ;)

most bestest supplies eva!:teeth

Wassup, lets hang out

Agreed

My go bag?

Gold, silver, a pressed Armani suit, shined Ferragamos, and hopefully a few of Eldritch's butt drugs

Planning for Hurricanes is the same as these kinds of things. Sheltering in place where I have everything I need to survive. Plus my neighbors are crazy like me so we will band together and take over the post-apocalyptic world....... Welcome to Swampistan..........:sniper

Oh yeah, I am hereby issuing a passport to Eldritch contingent upon the fact that he brings his medicinals with him.....

We got us an apocalypse party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pack extra thumbs? Got it.

What is on your necklace?

If the world goes to shit and you don't have any guns, you're the prey and there will be plenty of predator's out there who didn't stock up on anything but guns and ammo.

Do you really want to survive to see the Walking Dead Season 8?
Maybe a quick death is not too bad when it hits the fan.

Seriously. "Realistic" is not going to be a prepper fantasy or look anything like the "Purge". Well, maybe except for Oakland :twofinger

This is literally my crazy little brothers plan up north. He actively maps out survivalists and bunker keepers within 80 miles of his place up in Clearlake.

I'm not a prepper at all, but I've set up my Jeep as a camper. I could walk out to it right now and have food, water, clothing and shelter for a week.

Someone mentioned not being able to carry enough water. While I have ~7 gals. of water in the Heep all the time, I also have a Sawyer water filtration setup as a compact backup.
