Re-Imagined bikes that were eyesores.

My best friend, Dave (CigarMan) (R.I.P.) rode a Wine coloured Virago 750 for years.

I piloted it a couple of times, and aside from the Impossibly Awful aesthetics, and peculiar handling the motor was really quite likeable.

It was throaty, lumpy, thrummy, with a dash of snatch.
Perfect for a total Transplant into a featherbed frame or something like that. Add a pair of USD forks and a competent rear swingarm and you'd have A Nifty Shafty Sort-of Corner Carver.

This one was pretty easily done, but lacking a real frame, it's just a cruiser with clip-ons.

I was signed up for a welding and metal fabrication class at CCSF when the pandemic hit. But I'm eager to get started learning the basis as soon as they begin classes again. Maybe it's time to try to find a suitable donor for a Re-Imagined Ride ?

Viragos were all over CL when I was first shopping for my bike. There were always a few dogs that I kinda loved that are starting to be modified. Current favorite is the K100 from Unit.

Just start with the XV920 that came over from Europe. Flat bars, pegs already back. In every way it was better than the Virago. So, of course, nobody bought them.
