Rain riders: What helmet do you prefer?

RT_Russ

Half Fast at best......
Commuters/Rain riders; What helmet do you wear in the rain and......

Do you have any problems with leakage?
Water entering and getting inside the face shield?
Liner getting wet?

I tend to ride year round and don't seem to be smart enough to come in out of the rain sometimes. My KTM has many features that give some level of comfort with wet roads ......traction control, rain mode (lower HP), ABS etc. BUTT I seem to have an issue with rain finding it's way inside my face shield and causing distorted view. That is not safe! Because of that I drove a cage today.

My helmet......Scorpion EXO900X modular. I've had 2 other Scorpion modulars and like them other than this problem. I don't remember having this issue with the Nolan modular that preceded the Scorpions but that was many years ago. What are you wearing in the rain?

Ask me about my B-1-D
I kinda like the adventure / dirt bike shaped ones (with the sun visor bill)... the triangular profile of the visor sheds water aerodynamically really well, and the extra space in front of your mouth / nose means that the visor and/or glasses do not fog up as easily

Just started wearing a new AGV Corsa but did the 2014 winter commute with my AGV GP Tech with no issues.. It was storming pretty good on my ride home last night, so I think the Corsa proved itself with just that ride.

Another RF-1200, never had any water come in. Another trick if you don't already is to have a pair of gloves with the little squeegee built into the thumbs so you can wipe away your face shield, whoever thought of that was a genius haha.

If your visor is leaking, it's probably due to the visor itself not being lined up with the shell.

Loosen them adjuster screws play with the seal a bit.

I was going to say this as well, but looked up OP helmet model and I don't know if cracking / adjusting the visor is possible?

Definitely one of the first things you should check if you are getting water inside your helmet is to make sure you are getting a nice seal all the way around. The adjuster screws can work loose and results in whistling sounds at speed as well as letting water in.

Was bike only for 10 years in Bay Area. Used a Shoei XSP and an X11 during that time.
Every cold rainy season I taped a chin skirt on the helmet and installed a clear face shield with an anti fog lens insert.
Work great except during True Grit rides. Had to duct tape the top of the visor at the top shut to keep it dry.
But in all the true grit rain rides I've never been able to stay completely dry. Regardless of the effort and money I threw at gear. Enough water dumps on you, it will find a way in.
