Racing F3 on a ninja 250

I've been wanting to enter the F3 race with my 2fidy, but at BW I was far from hitting the cut off. Oddly, my Thill time would have made me eligible and from the looks of things I should be able to make it time wise for Sonoma. My only concern is that there will be a bunch of 450 superbikes just seconds off my tail, based on the schedule for round 2 posted to Facebook. The rule book states the cut off for the 450sbk is 2:09, a whole 4 seconds faster than the F3. So, why is F3 gridded right in front of 450sbk? And, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to stay a head of those guys for more than a few laps. Can anyone shed some light on my conundrum, help me see what I am missing, or more importantly, make it so I can run one more race!

If you can race up a class, then do it. I did this when I was a yellow-plater, for more track time/experience. My first F40L race at Sears Point in 2010, gridded on box #73 (around the corner) in the 3rd wave was crazy with 28 entered in F40L, 64 total in one race. This was before they split F40 into separate races, but what a blast even when F40Hvy started lapping me. :wow Finished 61st. :thumbup

Register for the class, and as long as you meet the cut-off, you're in. If you don't feel comfortable, cancel the race before the grids are posted.

I'm racing club light, 250 Superbike and 500 twin. My bike is not eligible for prod.

I get what your are saying, but it still doesn't answer my question.

You're right, I got a little side-tracked. Someone will come around to better answer your question.

If F3 is faster than 450 Superbikes, then the start waves should be swapped.

Other way around. F3 is slower than 450SBK, so the start waves should be swapped (F3 after 450).

Actually if we had fast riders on F3 bikes they would be faster, but usually we don't. 400's at the front will be probably be about 50 flat or a bit faster.

How that works? :)
Maybe it is other way around.

Nope. Logistical project management

Let's make the argument with easy sample numbers

Class A: 2 minute to complete race
Class B: 3 minutes to complete race
Class C: 5 minutes to complete race
Separate between starting times: 30 seconds

A-B-C starting order

0:00 - A begins
0:30 - B begins
1:00 - C begins
2:00 - A finishes
3:30 - B finishes
6:00 - C finishes

C-B-A starting order

0:00 - C begins
0:30 - B begins
1:00 - A begins
3:00 - A finishes
3:30 - B finishes
5:00 - C finishes

Class C gets lapped and their race is over when overall leader finishes his race.

In your example leader of A will cross finish line first. Any time you delayed his start adds to overall race time.

Ummmm, yeaaaa, about that tps report......

Very flawed argument

First winner means end of race for all. If the 250 gets lapped just before the finish line by the winner they're race is over seconds later. Everyone gets to finish the lap their on after winner crosses finish line and they're done. Might be two minutes after the winner but not much more. Start them behind a slower class instead of in front and they'll be held up more as the racers will still be bunched from the start.

650's and 400's will catch the 250s before the end of the first lap if the 250's are started in front of them.
