Hi Barf,

I am planning to modify the throttle pull on my 2011 cbr 600rr. I came across two options. R6 throttle tube or Motion pro revolver throttle. Which way should i go? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers!

HRC makes a plastic tube as well.

R6 works fine, the Motion Pro has more range. Unless you're racing, I'd stick with the R6/HRC.

The R6 tube is a shorter throw than the HRC and it's cheaper and easier to order. The R6 tube worked just fine for me, though I would occasionally find a spot or two on a track where even shorter would be nice. If u do get the R6 tube, Ull need to grind the inside of the housing a bit, just two small tabs in there.

One other option I haven't tried, u could use the Graves R6 tube. It's shorter than the stock R6 and progressive. So on the CBR it's prob be way short but offer good feel at small throttle openings.

I am a bit confused. I was under the impression that the tube will come with a cable. But it looks like they are just selling the tube. Is my understanding wrong?

the Graves tube does not come w/ cables. the cable holes in the tube are spaced slightly further apart which allows it to use the stock cables on the R6.

If I just replace the stock tube with r6 tube and don't touch any cables, will the turn be shorter? Or should I do something with the cables?

Yes, the throw is shorter on the CBR with the R6 tube and Honda cables. The cables do not affect the throw. ull have to add a lot of slack to the cables to get the R6 tube to fit. Depending on how they are adjusted now, u might need to adjust them at the throttle bodies too.

Interesting story.

My son raced a R6 in AMA for 2012 and liked the bike. For 2013, I bought him a used Graves bike. The 12 had Vortex pegs but had YEC box etc., so an almost identical bike. Even after we had identical throttle maps and engine braking maps, etc he liked the feel of the Graves bike while rolling on the gas, better.

That's when I realized we missed the throttle tube. It was worth the $110 to him, I never road the bike but he said that tube made it feel much better on the track?

What was your experience stang?

my fuel and throttle maps are still crappy. so i didnt really notice a difference from zero to mid throttle when i changed the tube.

i guess thats the point of the progressive tube though, make low throttle openings just as smooth as a 1/4 turn throttle and way more smooth than a 1/6 turn.

If you want them, I may have a copy of how we did it, just not sure where it is right now, since I sold the bikes. Chuck told me what to put in.

$125 vs $25...I dont race so it was a no brainer for me. R6 throttle was night and day difference on my gsxr
