Wonder what the MotoAmerica Super
Sport class will feature? Just keep running ‘00s?

They’re running Triumph Daytona engines in GP Moto II so.....maybe the Daytona Moto2 bikes in MA?

The FIM is making changes to the Supersport classes. The BSB Supersport class will be the first test of the new regulations and if it goes well, expect to see the class change to something other than all 600cc (and 636cc) sport bikes.

Link to FIM press release here (excerpt below).

In recent years the Supersport class has been bound by regulations to incorporate 600cc 4 cylinder, 675cc 3 cylinder and 750cc twin cylinder machines. As the market changes, motorcycles outside of this parameters now form the Supersport sector.

Planned new regulations could allow machines from different manufacturers that currently are not eligible to compete in the Supersport class adding value either to the teams and the series organizer.

MSVR as the organiser of the British Supersport Championship will experiment the evolution of the class in 2021 with the introduction of a Triumph 765 three cylinder machine and later in the season a Ducati 955 twin cylinder machine in a view to evaluate if this new technical regulations could be the platform for the 2022 FIM Supersport World Championship organised by DWO.

Shame, such a great bike. Will Yamaha be importing the track model here to the States?

From all the different articles I have read about what types of bikes are selling and not selling, it does not surprise me that the R6 is being dropped.

Some of the articles say the market seems to have shifted to the "mid-sized" nakeds (MT09, 765 Triumphs, 890 KTM, etc.)

Yamaha has announced the MT09 and the MT09SP will be coming to America in 2021 and I suspect Yamaha is seeing the MT09SP as the price, weight, performance, handling replacement for the R6.

I don’t know what that means. Girls ride whatever they choose. I just think it is cool as hell that women ride.

Wow, they're killing off the WR250R as well! I didn't like the one I had, but I know everyone else loves 'em. Looks like Euro regs strike again!

Don't understand the currents causing shift in the market. Is it:

No one wants to ride a supersport on the street anymore
No one wants to pay north of $12K for a 600cc
No one wants to spend money bc covid and Zombie Apocalypse
No one can leave their house bc of county mandates

I have been considering an R6 for a few months but can't force myself to pay 9K for a good used one.
