PSA: speed enforcement just south of Alice's

A few months ago for the first time I rode to Alice’s. I planned on going to the coast and eat at Alice’s on the way home.

So when I passed Alice’s going towards the coast I saw a motorcycle cop around the edge of Alice’s parking lot. I rode by normally, and kept at 5mph over the speed limit at the most. About 1 minute after riding by the cop I pulled over to change my traction control to race mode (bike must be stopped to change into race mode).

As I was messing with the settings, the bike cop comes rolling towards me and rides on by.....maybe he was trying to catch me and pace me.....

Did a run to alice's around May 16 and couldn't believe the number of cops, sheriff, and CHP units patroling the area. EVERY turn-out had someone in it getting a ticket. I lost count after the 20th officer I saw in the area. We gave up having any fun on the ride and came back to the east bay. I haven't gone back since because the police presence has been so heavy ever since

A group of 10 or 11 of us did a loop last Saturday starting at Alice's. Didn't see any marked LE vehicles. Sometimes they are all around and other times nowhere to be found.

It's a Woodside moto cop, he's been there all week. He will watch for people doing rolling stops at the intersection too. Also watch for CHP on 280 near Sand Hill.

Source : 84 is my daily commute. Side rant: tourists suck! Tired of hordes of cagers going 15-20 under the limit and not moving over. :thumbdown

It may not be a popular answer... but when he LEO's are out don't give them a reason to pull you over.
This happens many times a year.:ride
Better yet find a different road less traveled than all the wanna be motogp racers ride.
Use the force so to speak don't be where they are going to be.
Nothing wrong with taking he path least traveled?:wow
Its getting warmer and the itch to ride is getting more than most can deal with anymore.

Whammy, you hit the nail on the head. I've been seeing enforcement everywhere the last two weeks. So, time to take it easy, as they're clearly sweeping the area. Soon enough they'll move onto another, and we can play again.

It makes sense for them to be hitting the Peninsula hard right now, as it always starts to get very busy this time of year, and with SIP being lifted, it'll be the worst ever for traffic. With that comes a large spike in wrecks. Fast cagers, slow cagers, bicycles, and motos comes together to make a bad combo.

PSA: Reminder. Spring is here!!

I just got nailed by the Woodside Moto Officer (Sheriff's dept). He was parked past a blind turn. He was patrolling between the intersection of Portola road and Alice's. Was not using radar.. just visual.

Apparently had nailed 3 vehicles before he got me earlier in the day. Then he was handing them out in the parking lot at Alice's.

This whole road to Alice's is 35mph!!

Always stopped at Woodside and spent money.. not anymore..

Be safe

They're humping that area for a few reasons. Also it's not spring, haha!

One, there's going to be tree work for the next few weeks at 84 and Portola Rd. The lower half of 84 between Skyline and Portola will be closed Mon-Fri 8AM-4PM, but the section near Skyline on 84 will still be open so that residents can still get out and back in. So, between the work and closure as you near the bottom, they don't want people flying through there and stuffing it into the work zone or closure point.

Second, I know that the people that live near Alices have had enough of people going "fast" through there, and have been complaining a lot recently. I put fast in quotes, because the people that live near that intersection, view anyone going above 25mph as going too fast. Seriously, they drive like tourists in there, it's painful(that's part of my commute). I'm sure there are those that fly through there, but I never see it. Also, that intersection at Skyline has always been easy tickets, as lots of people just roll through the stop sign, or pull out without looking first. I've seen lots of accidents at that intersection.

Personally, I wish they'd hand out failure to yield tickets to those coming out of Alices onto 84, or crossing through, as 99% of people just blast through, people already on 84 be damned. I almost plowed into a new rider once, he just darted out without so much as a glance to his left. I nearly got hit yesterday too, by a moron in a truck that stopped at the last second, missing me by mere inches.

Be careful out there, people don't pay much attention these days, and it's much worse in the hills as of late.
