PSA for those with tattoos

Go get 'em touched up!

Having just passed the half-century mark, I have two tattoos that are nearly 30 years old. Neither was especially well done, and as time's gone by, they've gotten faded. The one on my ankle was done with a heavy hand and got a bit...blobular.

Anyway, I went to the best local shop I could find and got them updated.

On the shoulder tattoo, I got new ink over the old and added the teeth for the sprocket design. That's something I've wanted to do for many years and just didn't get around to it, but getting and beating cancer changes your perspective on "someday".

On the ankle, it was just an all-black griffon, which over time turned into an all-grey something. My guy added white ink over the old black in order to give depth and I absolutely love how it turned out. We may need to do another round so that the white stays visible and vibrant, but it's much better now - the griffon is sharp!

And, because this thread is worthless without pics...

Don't mind the glare. I just put on Aquaphor because this work was done less than 48 hours ago. Apologies for the lack of "before" pics!

Looks sweet man. Def would recommend another session for that ankle piece! Mind if I ask where you went?

Not at all! I live in Benicia and went to Chris Wallace at White Rabbit in Fairfield. You can see his stuff at ChrisWallaceTattoo.com.

The white adds a huge lift in definition and texture. I will likely go back to have the outlines done again, to make sure they “stick”, and to have the faded black touched up and made vibrant again (like my shoulder).

It's not my fault...

Awesome. I got a tattoo at White Rabbit. My wife has a couple from them. Mark Freitas did mine. Super cool dude.

Right on! Mark did some very nice work for a co-worker, which is how I found the place. I met Chris when I went in for a consultation and we hit it off. I'm really happy with the results!

I have an idea for a new, much more ambitious piece (if I can get approval from SWMBO), but neither Mark nor Chris does the style. I'm going to have to do some research...

Its Dethklok!
30 years can do some damage to your skin and tattoos. I didn't realize all I had left was a stain. Found the original artist, Karl Fisher, in Oakland and had him redo it.

That looks a damn sight better, and I like the additional work. :thumbup
