Was commuting home on 280S last night and see a bike coming up behind me. Since I have side bags I tend to split very cautiously and was not in a particular hurry so I move to the left side of lane #1 and gesture for the rider to pass me.

As he does I notice it's a CHP and he gives me a friendly "hang loose" wave in response. Nice moment of two riders just heading our ways. Ride safe man! :ride

Those guys pass me all the time. For the most part, they split too fast! and for the most part, are super cool. They have been known to cut me some slack, giving my the head shake rather than pulling out their ticket book.

Coming up on me two days ago were 2 CHP moto riders riding in close side by side formation, CHiPs style. Seemed somewhat dangerous, considering traffic was moving about 45-50, but they were weaving in and out, 2' apart, with a precision I only on tracks. Some of those guys are great riders! My hats off to CHP moto riders, dangerous job IMO.

Obviously, the idea was from someone cool as shit! I bet if you ask any CHP on a moto if they would rather be caged, the answer would be a huge NOPE! :ride

Or a horse, or on a bicycle, or in a helicopter or on foot?

Law enforcement is needed in all kinds of places - it makes perfect sense to have them on all sorts of vehicles able to access all kinds of places.

They split pretty fast. I've always wanted to follow them but I have a feeling they'd just drop behind me and turn on the lights :p

I've tried to follow them. I always chicken out and back off. They split way too fast for my skill/nerve/cajones.

man i got yelled at by a motor officer once.....loudly in front of hella people lol. "DO YOU THINK YOU SHOULD SLOW DOWN?!?!?! i didnt hear him cuz i had no idea he split lanes up next to me but on the other side so i thought it was just some dummy in a car and i ignored it. he yelled even louder "HEY! DO YOU THINK YOU SHOULD SLOW DOWN?!?!?! i look over and my heart sank and i got that feeling like when someone scares the shit outta you, that tingly feeling. any ways he then says "DO YOU WANNA PULL OVER THERE AND TALK ABOUT IT? DO YOU THINK YOU SHOULD SLOW DOWN?!?! UHHH yes sir im sorry i will slow down. and he just sped off. wheeeew.

There's a motor cop I see all the time going home, its nice having someone to part the sea of cars for me from SF all the way to Orinda :ride
