So I get a call but no caller ID on it. I pick up and a very concerning voice tells me he's sorry to tell me that someone called in to tell them my HyperMotard was on Vanness beat to shit. Looks like it was abandoned and left for dead. Munroe ran the VIN and it came back to me. The sound of his voice seemed like they were notifying last of kin. I told them I sold that thing years ago to some guy from SoCal. Glad they did this. Very appreciative to go above and beyond. :thumbup

Motorcycles are like our own children. We all get it.

EDIT: Sorry to hear this happened to a Ducati, Glad Munroe cares.

Their shop is pretty cool. Iirc they have some interesting vintage things on the wall, like a 916 and a Buell of all things

this a good reminder to all those selling a bike/car to transfer ownership the same day money change hands...

I see 4 lights!
Munroe's. One of the shops where they ride motorcycles to work, not sleds they parks blocks away to keep up appearances.

They are a great shop and their service is reason enough to buy a bike there.

Gawd, I wish they weren't in Sam Framcisco. Actually, my El Sob neighbor works there and she is super nice...

From all I have heard of this dealership, were they closer, I'd probably have bought another bike by now. I am so underwhelmed by other Triumph dealers around here.

Yeah, I agree. Kudos to them for giving it a shot. They could have done nothing.

It was transferred at sale. They had me as owner in their system.
Transferred? So, at sale you turned in the DMV Release of Liability form, right?
If you mail it in, sometimes DMV can lose it or not record it. I've never had this happen, but have heard this.

Some say walk it in to DMV, but who's to say they won't misplace or lose it as well? :wtf

Sounds to me like your old bike was stolen. Question is ... did the new owner ever register it in his name? My guess is he did or you would have got a call from SFPD. (they called me when my Ninja was stolen, then recovered)

Other Caveat is you may get parking ticket notifications depending when DMV made the transfer of your bike to new owner. Also, bridge tolls. Guy bought my Tiger and I got bridge charges for a month.
Fast Trac deleted all charges once I could prove DMV had been notified of the sale. Fast Trac are really pretty good on this!

Sidewalk parking Tickets are brutal ... so hopefully you're off the hook.
Hey! maybe you can get that bike back ...? for cheap at Auction! ??

Good on Munroe's for stepping up!

The release of liability informs the DMV of an owner change....not the dealer who sold the bike....the dealer doesn't have access to that information...they simply called who they had listed in their system, since they have access to the Ducati dealer network. This has nothing to do with releases.

Pretty sure Munroe ran the vin in their own and Ducati's system, not the DMV system.
It's really cool that they reached out to you and called.
