MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
While the mainstream names such as Alpinestars/Dainese/Spidi/Frank Thomas blahblahblah get all the spotlight , there are times a little known brand comes along that are the rave but a well kept secret among certain crowds....
With that said, Shift has been popular among the supermoto crowd and a known brand among dirt/offroad/freestyle riders.....
Shift is owned by Fox, a giant in offroad/dirt gear, and is/was getting into the street scene....
Last year or so, Shift came out with the SuperStreet Leather Jacket that features 1.2-1.4mm full-grain leather provides excellent resistance to abrasions. Adjustable and removable CE certified protectors on the shoulders and elbows. Removable quilted vest zips in and out for added versatility. Perforated leather panels on the upper back. Leather stretch panels on the back of the shoulders. Full length jersey mesh liner with Lycra stretch panels. Vented mesh panels on the chest and arms. Schoeller stretch cordura inner arm panels. 2 external pockets and 2 inside pockets. Injection-molded TPU SHIFT logos on the shoulders. Integrated pocket for a back protector.
Shift also came out with their 1pc/2pc full leather suits using the same materials and features.....
Now about the jacket....
It's very comfortable to wear and fits many kinds of body types....it does have the proper sportbike cut so that you do stand around robo-coppish with your arms held outward while standing around but works well when riding....
Comes with a removeable thermo-liner and Shift spent a lotta times on small little details one can appreciate....
for one, it comes with a backprotector pocket (without a backprotector) , a 360 zipper that can zip up to leather pants (Which Shift doesn't have yet :wtf), a seperate smaller zipper that can be attached to a textile pants (which Shift doesn't have yet :wt +2) and also a belt strap so that you can loop it around your pants belt when wearing jeans.....:thumbup
Now Shift did a good job of mixing leather and textile together which helps give it a lotta venting....tons of it.....and there are plenty of perforation on the leather itself as well so this jacket will have no problem keeping cool.....
The armor Shift uses are the same kind that Dainese uses and the same floating style in the shoulder/elbow area which the fit and cut of the jacket keeps it snug and in place.....
The leather quality and finish is quite impressive and there's a good attention to details....
Stiff at first but will break in quite well for most people and after awhile you'll appreciate its fit....
My only complaint is a small one and that is the textile material Shift used for the jacket cuz it's only in white which might get dirty.....the other is this while jacket will keep you cool when its hot you definitely need to layer up to keep ya warm during the winter months...
But the best part is the price is that you can find this jacket for less than $300s and FWIW, its a good jacket and different from the sea of Alpinestar/Dainese you might find at a Starbucks.....
