PRK Recovery

.....
It has been 13 days since I had PRK surgery.

My right eye is nearly perfect while my left eye is still experiencing major "ghosting". I can see far away (20/15 both eyes) but have issues reading text on the laptop, tablet, and phone.

To those that had PRK surgery, how many weeks did you have fluctuations with blurriness and ghosting?

I had some pain, light sensitivity, and intermittent blurring for about a week, worse with the left eye. It all resolved, and I haven't had any blurriness, ghosting, halos, any of that. I'd talk to your provider if you're feeling you aren't healing properly. I had follow-ups at a week and a month, and they'll have me back again after a year.

(FWIW, I went to UCSF, and can't speak highly enough of them.)

First to say, I am lucky and have "better than perfect" vision to date. The surgery to help vision in others makes me have hope, but worries me at the same time with people that are younger. On the one hand, if your vision is crap, who cares if they can fix it for a while, but on the other hand there are a lot of folks out there with post surgery substandard vision and post surgery decent vision that degrades over time.

What do the eye doctors say about the post-surgery degrade is vision?

*I dont have a stake other than confirming/denying what I have heard about corrective eye surgery.

I didn't know anyone this side of the former "iron curtain" still used blades for vision correction.

Mine took about 6 weeks to stop fluctuating. 3 months to be at 20/15, and stay there consistently. For the first two weeks my vision changed rapidly day-to-day.

Best advice I can give you in this stage is to use your eyedrops religiously. Keeping the eyes properly moisturized speeds healing and improves the quality of your eyesight. Especially during this stage.

I would get blurring from dry eye (wrinkling of the surface of the eye) for about a month. Wasn't a big deal because I could resolve it by forcing a yawn.
