Pre-wiring for audio/video: what is relevant?

Cable TV is fast becoming the AM radio of the video content world. I am thinking of skipping RG6 prewire for cable TV. Also wondering if wireless seems to be the future vs actual hardwired compenentry? I will prewire for speakers because I still have wired speakers. Coax for internet.

What would you prewire for and why?

Coax for internet.

Coax for internet?

Yea, we're on the cusp of cable tv dying in the night.

I would certainly wire internet "everywhere", WiFi is as much a pain as it is a blessing sometimes. And for "permanent" things, wire is much better.

Since "everyone" is streaming digitally, there's less and less need for coax for video today.

But depends on where you are on the curve. I have feet in both camps. My house (2 yr old) is wired for both, and I'm using satellite TV and streaming mixed together.

I'm sure in the next year or two, the satellite will go away, and it'll all be digital.

If you're building new or have the drywall open, run conduit to locations you're likely to want service in the future, and pull whatever new tech is the mode of the day.

^^^ This. Run smurf tubing to any location that might need services. Makes changing out wiring so much easier (or even possible).

Run fiber optic while you're at it.

There's a least 5 printers pinging around from neighbors waiting for something to do.
Getting hard to find a clear WiFi channel inside my house.

I have HDMI cables & coax preinstalled by Airstream.
This new to me 4 K stuff may have different cables too?
