Hell no, I can't remember my first tape! I do, however, remember my first CD. I bought a CD player and Joe Satriani's Surfing With The Alien the same day.

Okay, here's where I show my age...

My first record was a 45 rpm single: Blondie's, "The Tide is High".
I think my first tape was the J.Geil's Band, "Freeze Frame".
And I can't remember what my first CD was.

My first record was Blondie's "Parallel Lines", follwed by the J. Giles Band's "Freeze Frame." If I remember right, "Freeze Frame" was all red vinyl, not black. No clue what my first tape was. My first CD was BiGod 20, German Industrial stuff...

first record (45) - holy shit almost can't remember back that far! three dog night, freda payne (Band of Gold) or something AM radio-ish. (think in the 1960's). whoever sang that "Hitchin' a Ride" song. but I never, ever bought a monkey's record, nor the beatles for some reason. (actually I know why but it's too freudian to admit)

first album - hmm, in 70's so maybe WAR or Tower of Power or like Cheech and Chong's Big Bambu :D

80's - sold every goddamn 45 I had by the pound for gas money in college. stupid move but oh well. actually made money on the marvin gaye's after he got killed. but will probably give it all back when buy the best of.

oops - first tape. madonna (otherwise used to record off air). Oh yeah. I remember the tape, the car, the girl, the times, everything. best time of my life other than now of course.

first CD - 90s' I was late to the party (stopped buying music for a long time) so it was a dance compilation (trying to get biggest bang for the buck) or either Madonna or Patty Smythe.

2000's - only buy DJ mixes like Pete Tong, Fat Boy Slim's, the UK guys. Will wait years and years to see if I still like the songs that are currently in vogue, then go buy the all in one, best of type of collections.

My mom has a bunch of 78's in pristine condition, worth plenty money now to collectors. errr, you guys know what a 78 is right? hee hee

fuck I got old.
