Post your favorite Christmas song and why

Rolls with it...
Bing Crosby may not have been "Father of the Year", but his voice always says Christmas to me, so pretty much anything he sings is ok with me around the Holidays.

Oh, the Grinch song GAJ posted.

Of modern, Do You Hear What I Hear, because it was written right after the Cuban Missile Crisis and hit harder than any tune I can remember. And of course, sung by Der Bingle. I remember watching him sing it, on black and white tv, and feeling the whole country getting the message when usually, xmas songs are just kind of de rigeur.

Hard to choose an old one...maybe Westminster Carol or Wenceslas... Westminster has the "Gloria" chorus. Wenceslas captures the feeling of the whole great white north Germanic-Scandi xmas thing. Boars Head is a great English one for the same reason....

My favorite Spanish carol is Alegria, the Puerto Rican one. It may be my favorite period. Part of it is that I learned it the year of my accident for a gig of all Spanish xmas songs (which I had to miss because I was laying the hospital). Makes me cry and shit because of the pain of spending a whole holiday season at Alta Bates. Never spend Christmas eve and day in the hospital. never.
