Great necro post thread title. When I was a kid I saw a cat that filled one of those mini garden wheelbarrows, that thing was gigantic and way overweight!

Holy Shit! For a moment I thought I had access to The Women’s Forum!
;)
Har dee har. I am owned by four cats full-time, and they still won't let me into the Women's Forum. Perhaps someday I'll persuade Mrs. to formally join BARF, but then she'd likely laugh behind my back. ;)

But seriously, four cats currently run my life.

My last GF had 5. All nice cats, but I’m more of a dog person. :laughing.
I’m not currently allowed in the Women’s Forum, either. :x

I like dogs as well, but don't currently have the health to responsibly own and exercise one. I do get frequent visits with my canine buddies and our cats share the yard with no problem.

Last summer I had a cat on my lap, a dog next to my chair in petting range, a hummingbird on my toe (my feet were on the table) and a wasp crawling around on my bald head. They were all totally chill.

But I digress.

I had to say goodbye to my beloved cat Elsie yesterday, Thursday, May 10th.
She was going down hard due to cancer and I had to choose to put her down.

I am so very sad.

So sorry Jim. It's never easy. Grief sucks.

Several years ago, I came home for lunch (I NEVER go home for lunch), on a whim, to check on our cat. I found her in distress, shoved her in a carrier and off to the vet. We lost her that day.

It was years ago, and I can barely just talk (or even type) about it. Only good thing out of that day was I laugh at how gentle I was trying to get her in the carrier (she was essentially unconscious) in stark contrast to how the vet yanked her out of there like rag doll to rush her in to the back room to work on her.

We still miss her every day.

Condolences. :rose

She was 16 and was my best friend.

And you were her entire world. Ya done right by your little girl. I don't even try to get "over" them anymore. I let it hurt when it hurts and it goes away for a while until it comes back. I love my pets, and damned if it doesn't sting when they leave! I guess that's the trade-off: when it's good it's soooo good, and when it's not--ouch. >Hugs<

Jim, sorry for your loss. You gave Elsie a great life and probably spared her a lot of pain by making that tough decision when you did.

Butch, your cats are massive! Hope you have a king sized bed!

Here's my Maine Coon named Milo, we rescued him at age 6 and he's about to turn 8!

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. It's times like this that I really want to believe in an afterlife, and that all this will at some time make sense.

Milo is a beautiful Maine Coon!

This is Ted, a flame point siamese I got from F4ichic. He is loud, demanding, and enjoying his golden years aboard the fabulous yacht.
