We were already discussing this somewhere on here.

The bill is ill conceived nonsense. Law makers won't be getting any law enforcement buy in on this. The bill is illogical and does nothing to address the perception of bias motivated shootings.

Agreed, and by the time it is “nessesary” it is too late because you are sooo far behind the OODA loop said bad guy already has rounds down range.

Gee wonder why cops would not be behind this..........

Guess it's is reasonable to shoot someone in the back running away from you.....

Cops are to quick to pull the trigger.....

Your idea of using deadly force by police is “only when you are getting shot at you can return fire”.

There are plenty of cops who have been wrong lately.

But this proposed standard is absolutely unusable.

I mean...Like...really. Just have zero law enforcement if that's the case. Let everyone who thinks they can decide better go ahead and decide for themselves.

I think better training should be mandated (and paid for), but the problem inevitably becomes how it gets pushed forward.

If the police and state reps use inflammatory language, I don't see any good solutions.

You're not getting the bigger picture, this would be great for business for lawsuit lawyers! :twofinger

Agreed on ill conceived, it would cost cities and counties $ Billions. I would bet that there is a bunch of money from law firms pushing for this bill behind the scenes.

Like with most other stupid laws enacted, just follow the money. I bet John Burris and his ilk are doing the happy dance right now!

What needs to happen is a victim of a truly unjustified shooting such as Daniel Shaver needs to not "settle" their case and take it to the Supreme Court so we can get a ruling on a righteous fact pattern of police use of deadly force.

We need that more than we need a politician creating a bill meant to shore up the deficiencies in Graham.

Oh, this is just PC. I don't have a problem with the force just stating a policy that if you run you will be met with deadly force; if you disobey orders you will be bludgeoned into submission, and unless immediately effective will be administered deadly force.

Make it so and let's clean up!

People are acting like hormone enraged adolescences with serious attitude problems.

Must be tough trying to protect and serve when the state government you're serving doesn't like you along with a good chunk of the population.

I continue to believe most of this stuff is just from a vocal minority of the population and politicians. I've been doing this quite a while. Certain things can be tough, but not so much that issue.

The pendulum is actually swinging back the other way. I get way more “Thank you for your service”, “I couldn’t do your job” comments, and customers buying my coffee for me at Starbucks than I get “Fuck the police” from the Peanut Gallery.

Agreed. I'm getting more people out there paying for my lunch than ever before because they want to do something nice for an officer.

So, when pulled over by a cop.......it is reasonable to believe that the cop will shoot you if there is any perceived threat, real or not.

Remember this next time you have a encounter with a cop........it reasonable to believe he will shoot you.......
