I can't seem to ID this. It has all the telltale signs of poison oak except these have sawtooth like edges to it which the poison oak ID does not show. What is it???

That looks like wild groundcover strawberries, or something very similar.

Definitely not poison oak.

That will dominate your yard and yield within reach only bitter, unripe berries without extracting a pint of blood for each morsel.

Not a problem for a motorcyclist. Just gear up to access those inner bushes where out of reach juicy ones are growing.
I do this every August

Agree. Toothed leaves are excluded from poison oak/ivy/sumac unpleasantness. Fear lobed leaves of three and 7 leaved low crepe myrtle-looking woody shrubs in wet terra.

Poison oak vines are absolutely hairy when the plant is of sufficient size. It’s all over NC - god knows I see it enough.

The rhyme is about the leaves, never seen hair on the CA varieties and the vines without leaves in winter look like any other bush.

Maybe you have poison ivy?

Strawberry.
Gots lots here.

Got nettles too. Not nettles.
Those have single leaves on opposite sides of a single stem,
then the next pair of leaves is 90 degrees from those after a gap.

Yeah probably but I was struck by the link pics. Nettles seem darker green when I see em but not in those same pics.

You didn't say where you live. Assuming its Calif, then my guess is stinging nettle, if it has sharp little hairs. If it doesn't, scrunch some up and tell us if its fragrant. (but the more I look at it, the more I think its the nettle). Be careful, you'll get a rash from that shit, but nothing as bad as poison oak, more temporary.

Nettle leaves are a bit pointier and more tear drop shaped. If you do get a nettle rash, rub dock leaf on it. They can usually be found very near the nettles!

about 20 years ago I rubbed up against some nettles and it sucked. Apparently putting mud on it worked. Some advice to me at the time from my brother in law who was an eagle scout.

I used to see my grandfather pulling nettles out of the ground with bare hands but his hands were like leather. I've been stung by them plenty of times and they're irritating as you'd expect. I never knew of a means to counter the sting other than waiting it out.
