So i'll admit i have a problem of sorts. im 6'1", 185lbs, but im in love with mini things. My girlfriend is mini sized, i like mini snacks, and i'm falling in love with Mini bikes all over again after not paying any mind for a few years. With the introduction of the Honda Grom into our market, its pretty hard to not pay attention to them on the interwebs and such.

Now i think the Grom is awesome, but im just not willing to drop almost 4k on something thats going to be more of a toy to putt around for simple errands. Now i haven't seen one in person, but im guessing id be pretty cramped on that as well. So im now weighing my options on what other bikes will tickle my mini bike fancy.

here are the bikes im looking at, and id love some of your thoughts on them.

In no particular order:
Aprilia rs50
Aprilia SR50 (if i get desperate)
Derbi Senda 50
Derbi GPR 50 ( http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/4049133702.html )
Yamaha Ysr50
Honda Nsr50
Honda NS50 ( http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/mcy/4058513043.html )
Honda Grom

which would you choose and why? im in no rush to find a bike soon. it just depends on what comes up and when

The 17" wheeled mini might fit you best. The GPR50 seems like a good deal. Ask if you can test ride it to make sure the engine upgrades are well sorted. RS50s are not as hard to find as the Derbis. Parts should be easier to get.

I was aiming more towards the rs50 and I have time,
But where can the parts be purchased from in the US?

Grom. I want that thing so bad. The current markup on them is stupid. If you can wait until early next year, I bet the supply will be better and the OTD price will be lower. As an added bonus, the aftermarket is already there because it's only really new to the US and under the Grom name.

The Aprilia rs50 looks like a ton of fun too but I personally think it'd bore me rather quickly. It's a sport bike looking thing with the displacement of a Ruckus and my Ruckus is slow as hell. It'd bore me but it's not pretending to be anything it's not.

The problems I have with the Grom are acceptable I hope, size, price, and overall "hipsterness". The rs and gpr are cool because of their exclusivity. People don't know what they are, plus they're so much bigger than the other competitors.

And you can find them from 900-2100 on craigslist. But I do still really want a Grom. I just don't think I could justify spending so much on a toy

I have extensive experience with the kinds of bikes you listed and would recommend the Aprilia rs50. Parts are easily sourced from any Aprilia dealer and if you join BATS you have a handful of experts to help you learn more about the bike.

@junk - Although the ruckus and rs50 are 50cc displacement the Aprilia being 6 speed and two stroke places it in a different league. Even the Aprilia SR50 which is a scooter, cvt, and 50cc like the ruckus is nearly twice as fast stock vs stock due to being two stroke.

TT I just saw all your builds on BATs. Sickness everywhere.

I'd love to have a sends and rs50 in my garage.

So you'd recommend the rs50? Any leads on cheap ones for sale? I know one sold for 900 a week or two ago

They come up on CL from time to time, just keep an eye out. I'm gonna check with a friend who might have a lead on one of my ex bikes, I'll let you know.
